I've not read any of the Todd McAffery books, but I thought that All the Weyrs of Pern ended the story quite well - Thread removed, AVIAS powered down mission accomplished, all cool and groovy.

Doesn't sound like I'll bother with the other books on this recommendation though...

There were a couple written after that, but that don't go much further/co-incide, like the Dolphins of Pern. The Skies of Pern is almost a one-off that comes afterwards, and is a stand-alone disaster book. It takes a couple of the characters further, mostly F'lessan and Golanth, and introduces a new girl whose Dragon has a interesting new talent. I've only read that one once, but wouldn't be adverse to reading it again.

Basically, any written solely by Anne are great.

Avoid Todd and the 3rd Pass if you want to keep thinking of Pern as great.

I will look for dragonharper too, but I had to give a lot of books to the sailors mission to keep place for walking, so I am not sure! <3 Nan

Don't worry about DragonHarper - given how I despise Todd McCaffrey's writing I can live without reading that one... ;)
