Dragon's Time Review

Dec 07, 2012 13:00

So, I've now finished reading 'Dragon's Time' by Todd McCaffrey, in record time as 400 pages of it were skim read. Yes, it's that bad...

I knew I was right not to touch them. And you have my sympathies for what you've clearly had to endure.

I stopped at All the Weyrs of Pern. It seemed like a natural point.

The Skies of Pern isn't bad, and is a one-off Disaster Movie Type book that forwards F'lessan's and the Dolphin's stories. It's not bad to read. And Golanth is lovely.

Dolphins of Pern is a side-story, unsurprisingly about the Dolphins. With a bit of Golanth too.

Basically, anything written solely by Anne is fine...

I am very glad that I have never gotten around to reading any of his books now.

I will, however have to dig out one of the few Anne McCaffry's that I have, to read, since these discussions make me waht to read them agian :)

I've just been re-reading them - they remain light-hearted and engaging, so it's really sad to hear how much they went downhill.
And some of her others - Ship Who Sang, Restoree, and many others are truly excellent

I recently re-read the whole Ship series and the Treaty Planet ones, and when I'm next in Norwich I may just come home with every Anne McCaffrey book on the bookshelves. Including Restoree, the Crystal Singer books and Powerlines, plus the Acorna books that I haven't touched yet, and the ones about the planet with the force field around it.
