Social or Anti-Social?

I have often been told by (by a varying number of people) that I am anti-social. My father in particular since I much preferred to read rather than watch TV. I could never understand why watching TV in the middle of the day was okay, but apparently reading a book was wasteful and I could my spend my time washing dishes or my bathroom instead.

I will never understand why people look down on reading. It is a valuable learning tool, and much more interesting then the news.

I've also been accused before of being anti-social because I prefer being alone versus being with people. I enjoy being with people, but after a day of being surrounded by others, I need time to recharge and be alone, and I never thought there was anything wrong with it.
