I think that although there are indeed genetic factors involved in obesity in children, the condition is exacerbated though ignorance of what constitutes a healthy diet in developed countries, especially in the USA. Parents need to learn to feed their children something healthy instead of mindlessly promoting the a modern diet of sugar, fat, processed foods, and lots of meat and carbohydrates. Vegetables, fruit, and nuts should be eaten with more frequency and quantity.
