Mmm let's do a piece of mathematics. One hand to hold front paws ... second hand to hold and apply ointment. Two feet to pin back paws down, one body to weight the cat down.
If I had a spare limb, I would definitely use it for holding the evil creature :p
My, that sounds like so much pain ! Out of interest (ok, I admit without torture; to confirm my uncertain idea on what 'porcupine' is) I've googled some pictures and among them, I found several of a dog that obviously encountered a porcupine. Just ... brrr :o
I guess I'm better off than most other people because I had quite an experience with the Grey before the kitty got into trouble, so where my dad has a huge fight that is most likely to really end with him having the ointment all over himself, I manage to give it to the CAT on myself. There is one huge difference between cats and parrots and that is that you can't hold a parrot in almost any reasonable way because they are so fragile - you just don't handle a bird like you would/can a cat.
I'm aspiring on becoming a prof medicine giver :p but it's true that I have yet to go through the ultimate givethecatit'stablet test ;)
