So things are finally settling down after the medical school admission threw me into a flurry of (happy) activity. My request for deferral has been granted so I'll be working at the NIH for another year. Everything is falling into place. Every time my mother's birthday or Christmas or Mother's Day rolls around, I always struggle with what I should do or get for her. Usually I go to my default idea which is cooking something for her.
