So I've been having a bit of a moment lately.There's this thing happening where me and the board-gamer of my life might be getting a place. It's a cheap, small, 'needs lots of fixing' apartment, but it would be ours. All the luck in the world to you! If unsolicited advice is okay, would it help to take as much control as possible beforehand? Plan out your route, decide how to best conceal and protect it, what defenses to carry, etc. It doesn't help much for a phobia but it may help a little bit to take charge of the situation as much as you can. Heck, would it be possible to hire a fancy taxi or limo? They're extremely unlikely to mug you and provide safety during transit. It's extra money spent but it's also peace of mind. I hope you're able to feel better about all of this soon, and I'm glad you figured out what was bothering you so much!
