Xehanort was ready...and rather excited. He had decided to lump the 5th and 6th years together for this class, because it seemed that neither had been taught Protego Horribilis. Since he felt that the need for students to be able to shield themselves from Dark Magic was vital, he wanted to make sure that everyone had a solid mastery of the spell

Getting up she walked over to whoom she assumed was Squall, "I guess I'm with you? Um... I'm not very good with the shield charm, so if I accidently blow you up..." she glanced at Xehanorts now-repaired blackboard.

Fortunately enough, Selphie had approached him first. He wasn't very good at seeking out others. "Um... yeah," he nodded. To her concern, he merely stated, "Don't worry about it."

She quickly decided to sit next to Reno. Fran would thank her for it later. Besides, sitting next to the Slytherin had the side benefit of ribbing him. That would be fun.
She quickly pulled out her notes from the previous year, and then took out the ones she had written in the library earlier. Professor Xehanort had given her unlimited access to the restricted section. Now she could research spells she had never dreamed of. She just learned of a new shielding charm-but had yet to practice it. The Protego Horribilis sounded promising. She wondered if it would live up to the name of The Shield of Wonders other wise known as the Horrible Shield. Lulu then shot Reno a glare, daring him to object to the seating arrangement ( ... )

"I trust you won't have any problems with this spell, since it is all based on confidence. I was going to work with you myself, but it seems that I will have to pair you with the other late-comer. "
He glared daggers at Blank.

She then cast her partner a wary glance. She hoped he could handle himself. She wouldn't want either of them to end up in the hospital wing.

Blank slightly nodded his head forwards and gave a lax two-finger wave at the professor.

"Well, since you seem to know enough about my class to come in late, you can be paired with Lulu, her casting, you defending."

Blank lurched himself from the wall and towards his new partner and glancing around the room.
Turning to address her, he yawned out, "So, it's shielding charms today, eh?"

While he was a noble character, he wasn't about to let Lulu off for what she put him through. With his slightly raised spirits, though, he hoped that Professor Xehanort wasn't lying about that duel.
He faced his opponent. "'Hey, I'm going to hit you, now'... That's how it's supposed to go, eh?"

She smirked, waving her wand about in the proper pattern for the charm.
“Yes… because typically, one would announce when they would strike-even as they attack you from behind," She said scornfully. "You have a great deal to learn if you expect to survive in the world.”
She finished gesturing with her wand-a near perfect shield was erected. Confidence was key for the charm-but practice wouldn’t have hurt. She would practice some more once class is over. For a first attempt, the shield was not bad at all.
Knowing most magical strength draws power from the strength of will-Lulu began layering the shield with reinforcements behind the main layer. The main layer would protect against many of the stronger curses-but would definitely collapse at an assault from an unforgivable--not that anyone would cast one in a classroom environment.

Blank had actually thought this one through. He had just experienced the spell he needed to pull this off, but he was sure that he couldn't do it the was the professor had.
This girl's shield was well-prepared, unlike the one he himself had meshed together.
"Protego Horribilis!," Blank rung out. This time, the shield he produced was wrought with energy and focus. Now, it was time to use his imagination.
"Ejecto!"
The shield that Blank had cast was propelled at an alarming rate at Lulu's. He wouldn't just let the charm take over; he held this one. There was no guarantee that this would break Lulu's barrier, but he would sure as hell make sure she regretted keeping her nose so far into the books and out of practice.

She glanced at Professor Xehanort, wondering what he thought of their little battle of wills.
