Interlude III: The Week at Don Wroe’s Cabin

June 1975 Jack swung the door open until it banged forcefully against the wall, throwing his hat into the air and making a beeline for the kitchen that opened onto the far side of the great room. “Whoo-whee! Check out the view out back! Is that a deck? With a barbecue? I’m gonna cook you the best ( Read more... )

oh this was SO GOOD Shieldmaid. I loved how Jack fantasized at what he'd do to Ennis, based on what he read in that guest book. I am wondering were these other couples gay?

Thanks for reading! I meant for the couples' identities to be ambiguous--mostly. See below for some clues. :)

That was good! Jack certainly has a vivid imagination, doesn't he?

I think I figured out that the first couple was Randall Mallone and LaShawn Malone - right? Couldn't figure out any of the others though.......

Thanks for taking the challenge and posting this. Will there ever be an Interlude IV where we find out what the basketball was for?!

I'm glad you liked it, and yes--RM and LM were Randall and LaShawn. The others are all made up, except JR and TB, which are mine and my husband's initials. The date there is my real date of birth. :)

Hoping to provide a clue to the basketball question in the epilogue, which will be up later today or tomorrow, along with the final chapter.

Oh Jen that was fun! I loved happy!Jack and grumpy!Ennis, Jack like the child exploring everywhere and Ennis like his dad, telling him off for touching stuff that doesnt belong to him!! That journal was very interesting though, no wonder Jack kept going off into a daydream about what he'd like to do to Ennis. Someone commented that maybe the previous guests of the cabin were gay? I hadnt thought of that but that would be quite something I didnt really get any of the initials to be anyone we were meant to know.

Am glad Jack got creative with what he had at his disposal but like everyone else I want to know what that basketball was for!

Hope Going Down for real is going to be with us soon, Jen! But this interlude was nice all the same.

Hi hon! Thanks for your lightning-quick beta of the next chapter; the epilogue will be on its way to you in just minutes as I'm pretty much finished with it. :) Hopefully all questions will be answered. I made up all initials except LM and RM (Randall and LaShawn), and JR/TB are mine and my husband's initials (and the date of that entry is my real birthday). Thanks so much for all your kind comments and support. xx Jen

"...Jack identified this immediately as the Alfredo sauce he had just prepared...", what Jack making Alfredo sauce, yeah, like that's ever gonna happen. What, oh, I wasn't suppose to be focusing on the food? LOL

Really enjoyed this one - interesting actions - wonder what Ennis' boss would say if he happen to read an entry made by them. (BG)

Thanks for the story.

I know, the Alfredo sauce seemed like a bit of a stretch to me, too--but I figured, what the hell? People learn new things all the time. :) The premise of this story is actually based on a B&B my husband and I went to once--it was lots of fun. Thanks for reading!
