“We come up the mountain at different times, but I guess I always knew someday we’d be going down it together.”
Yay for a happy ending!! I loved this Jen, wow the way you wrote the scenes in the office with crazy Randall, calm Julia and our two favourite cowboys. So full of tension and excitement. I just loved Ennis, taking control of the situation..and I howled when he warned Jack he might have to kick him in the balls if he didnt let go!! lol And double yay for Julia, the coolest girl around! But so glad it all ended happily, and that it was Ennis who expressed his love and appreciation for the life they were about to lead. Sublime.
I've enjoyed being a part of this story and its not been hard work AT ALL. Its been fun and wonderful to see a story come together and I feel honoured that you shared that with me.
Thanks for your brilliant comments--they are so kind!! I'm sorry it took ages and ages for me to respond, but here I finally am. You've been the best beta I could have hoped for--I'm just glad you liked the end of the story too. :) xx Jen
Awww....this was a lovely chapter. I held my breath when Perez said about 'going back to your wives' probably like Jack....so when Ennis said..
“Can’t,” Ennis said, sending a jolt of electricity rocketing up Jack’s spine. “We’re both gettin’ divorces ‘n plan on gettin’ jobs together one way or another. If it ain’t here, it’ll be somewheres else.” When he saw Jack’s wide-eyed, open-mouthed stare, Ennis gave a tiny shrug, as if to say, OK, I surprised the shit outta me too. He cleared his throat and went on. “Me ‘n Jack’s, uh, good friends.”
If it ain't here it'll be somewheres else....aw...music to my ears! And the ending going down together this time, just lovely. I'm glad Randall got his comeuppence too. Looking forward to the epilogue now...
