People don't necessarily "avoid" their fears or "drown" themselves in them; they can face their fears the same way. Though historically, it was used to blend in with the spirits that roamed the earth during the eve, if I remember correctly.

But then it may be different on every world, so I'm really not sure. ^^;

"Blend in witht he spirits that roamed the earth..." That is also a nice concept. If that was the way of old, this would seem an almost religious festival for a long-dead creed of beliefs. The original intent has drastically changed since then, I suppose.

If not to imitate their fears, why would they dress up as monsters and bloddied victims?

I think it was once religious. The woman who could probably explain everything about such a day isn't here, though.

To hide, to learn, to understand... I don't know, really. It could be anything.

Yes, it's quite fascinating how hum- people try to cope witht he world about them. This may be one of the few festivals or rituals I find truely interesting.

Every time I wake from a nap the world seems to change around me. Sometimes it is hard to try and regain touch with the people within it. This is just another example of how this is. Speaking of which, I don't recall seeing your face around campus. Are you by chance new here?

Yes, in fact, I am. I've just started attending this intitute a few weeks ago. Have you been here for quite a while?

What a weird holiday. Huh. Why not just try to get that power, instead? That makes more sense, if you ask me. And you get to kill things as you go! So much more fun than just pretending!

There is a saying, "A dream is a dream because it is a fantasy. If your dream comes true, it becomes a nightmare." Though most humans search for such power, they fear the repercussion and price for it will be too great for them. This is why they can only pretend. Pitiful of you think of it that way.

Why would I fear repercussions, Herr schwarzer Hut? And a nightmare is only a dream in a black light. A dream can be twisted once you take control of it.

An excemplary answer! I was not referring to you specifically. I was speaking of the human race generally. I'm relieved to see you're different.

I know one more you'll find as a greater aggravation than the rest. Just go look in a mirror.

... You couldn't come up with anything more creative? You must be losing your touch.

...since when did creativity have anything to do with stating the truth?

Since when have you ever spoken the truth?
