[Action for Violet City]

[Not long after they get in, Athrun seats himself in front of the computer in the Pokémon Center. First, he opens up an Internet browser and begins running a series of searches. However, it doesn't seem like any results he was looking for are popping up.]

...Figures.

[Eventually, he closes the browser and pulls something ( Read more... )

...Well. There is one person we both know who probably has a chance in cracking it.

[Except... welp.]

...To be honest, I'm not completely sure. There's no recognizable syntax in the code whatsoever. Even Kira would struggle.

Still.

[So, another question.]

The heck is that for anyways?

It's supposedly a tool for evolution. Trading a Porygon2 while it holds it is supposed to make it evolve.

My teammate said Ecruteak was like Kyoto. That's about all I know. I've only been here two weeks.

I'm good with computer programming. [For a fourteen year old. But at least he should be able to recognize if he knows the language.]

That's the impression I got, too, though the most I've seen of Kyoto has been in pictures. I wouldn't know what region of Japan it lies in.

All right, give me a few seconds. I took a screenshot of the program I was looking at.

[His Gear will get an image file -- the screenshot in question. The coding is unrecognizable.]

Kansai. [same as Osaka.]

[He stares at it for a few minutes. Some parts look familiar, but not quite right. Some parts look totally alien.] Yeah...I've got nothing. Where'd you get it from?

Kansai...

[He says it aloud to help ingrain it into his memory. At least that's potentially one mystery solved.]

Goldenrod City's department store sells a type of item they call a "Dubious Disc." I wanted to see if I could figure out what kind of program it runs, but when I examined the code...that's what I got.

I am proficient, which is why this is all the more worrying. There's not a single remotely recognizable line of code.

[Yeah, he's kind of bugged about this.]

What do you mean by "how far back you're looking?"

Not in such blanket terms. Some technology is, some isn't. I know for a fact that the computer programs here run on Java.

Right, I've found that out myself. That tends to happen when one is two centuries ahead of his friends' worlds.

I noticed the cultural similarities myself. But right now I'm talking about a geographical similarity. I'm not an expert on Japanese geography, but this is supposedly extremely similar to a corresponding region in Japan.

Though someone else gave me a region's name. Are you at all familiar with the Kansai region?

I see.

Anyway, I believe that this is more than coincidence.

You know, it does remind me of Japan, a little... especially Ecruteak. Goldenrod was sorta like Tokyo, too.

Right, I noticed the same thing. But in terms of physical geography...not quite as much.

Not really at all... I'd have to look pretty closely at the map, though. But Pokémon's a Japanese game, so maybe...

And yet, this isn't the region that appears in the games. This just feels like more evidence to support my theory about the origins of this world.
