Sousuke couldn't help but wonder if he was in the wrong place.  He knew the time was right, and could have sworn this was where the others had said they were going to rendezvous.  At least he hoped so; if there was another shrine he was supposed to meet them by, then he was definitely in trouble.  This seemed like the ( Read more... )

It had been decided that this year that all the girls in this group outing would wear kimonos. Give this year a flare from the previous ones. Naturally, Usagi had been all over it. It was nice to dress up once in awhile and she had even gone shopping with Naru and a few other girls to get accessories for the kimono's they'd be wearing!

But what point would getting all dressed up be if she were late and everyone went into the temple with out her? So Usagi rushed down as fast as she could towards the temple they had decided on going to. It had been pretty disheartening that Naru and some of the other girls had ended up being held back by other familial plans / gotten a cold, but Usagi still had the others there to have fun with.. right?

That's what she had told herself until the meeting place had finally come into view. Thankfully, she sees Sousuke waiting there and it doesn't sink in that it's only him yet. "Sousuke~!" She calls out, not bothering to stop her fast walking pace until she's right next to him, huffing in the cold ( ... )

His head perked up a little at the familiar voice, turning a bit to watch Usagi approach. On one hand, he was relieved that someone else was here (and, admittedly, moreso glad that it was Usagi). On the other hand, that didn't explain where everyone ELSE was. Surely nothing had happened, right?

"No problem," Sousuke replied, "you still arrived before everyone else, myself excluded." He put a hand to his chin in thought, muttering, "I'm sure this is the spot; surely we're not both mistaken, so it has to be. But then where is everyone else...?" It simply didn't make sense to him. Well, Usagi was here, so at least it wasn't a fully wasted opportunity. Admittedly, he would have felt somewhat uncomfortable if she wasn't here, anyway.

"Usagi, has anyone contacted you regarding their whereabouts?"

"Well," Usagi begins as she straightens herself up and dusts of a few flakes of snow that have attached itself onto her clothes, "Naru-chan called to tell me she came down with the cold, and a few others ended up canceling too because their families had brought up last minute plans."

Her ears perk up though and suspicions start going through her head. She was the only one that had shown up? SOMETHING SMELLS LIKE FOUL PLAY HERE.

There was no way they'd pull a stunt like this... "I-if you want, we can call everyone again just to make sure!" Oh, she'd kill them if her suspicions were right.

"I'll try calling Umino. He's usually rather punctual, and didn't tell me he would be unable to attend." He pulled a small black cell phone from his pocket, dialing a few numbers before holding it to his ear. Ring. Ring. Ring--

"Ah, Umino. What's your current location?"

A pause.

"I see. Naru said something similar. Perhaps you caught it from--" He pulled the phone from his head; obnoxiously loud coughs could be heard through the speaker. "Then make sure you rest. I-- hm? Yes, Usagi is here, though nobody else has arrived. Why--"

He blinked, staring at his phone. "Ah. He hung up. Too sick to speak through a conversation; my condolences."

Yep. That's it. They were all ditching to try and set up alone time for her and Sousuke. It was so blatantly obvious and now with the knowledge that her friends were going to get their just desserts, Usagi heaves a small sigh. She glances over at Sousuke, thinking that this is now just going to be the two of them and immediately turns red and looks away.

Gather yourself, Usagi. There's no need to be nervous! It's just two friends going to the temple on New Years. Nothing special!

"Right. That much be one heck of a cold." But even if she was trying not to be nervous, one thing still stood out though, ".. I guess it's just you and me tonight then, Sousuke!" She turns to look at him from the corner of her eyes, "You still feel like going?"
