Sousuke couldn't help but wonder if he was in the wrong place.  He knew the time was right, and could have sworn this was where the others had said they were going to rendezvous.  At least he hoped so; if there was another shrine he was supposed to meet them by, then he was definitely in trouble.  This seemed like the ( Read more... )

"I know you well enough that you're not the type of person who worries too much about what's in fashion this season." Reaching up, Usagi fingers the collar of his jacket and giggles, "Not that it's a bad thing, of course! But, your style is usually comfortable and easy to move around in."

She's going to try and not flail at the compliment and releases his jacket so no one gets any strange ideas. She's halfway to failing, but that's not the point! "T-thank you. I'm glad you like it..."

Oh good! Change of topic! Usagi's completely on the ball for this question as she makes with the best answer she can possibly come up with, "Well, we give our offerings and blessing over there." She points to the part of the shrine where a metallic bell can be heard every so often. "We can also drink some amezake that they serve somewhere. Oh! We also draw fortunes to see how our year is going to pan out and we can also make our own wishes in hopes that the gods will fulfill them!"

Sousuke glanced down at his own outfit for a moment, adjusting his jacket slightly after she released it. "It's true; these garments are a bit constrictive. Still, they shouldn't hinder me to such a point that my capabilities are compromised." Still, he was a bit annoyed that the guys had told him he had to wear this; knowing now that he could have shown up in anything, he half-wished he had chosen his own outfit.

His hand fixes his collar, touching the spot where Usagi had grabbed it. Well, on second thought, it wasn't too bad, really. At least it was warm.

His expression falls slightly as she mentions the amazake. "Er, about that. The amazake, that is... it's an alcoholic beverage, correct?" He grimaced a little - did he actually fidget? - as he tried to decide just how to proceed. "I've never consumed alcohol in any dosage before. Given its negative effects on the body, I've never considered it fruitful."

Usagi lifts a thoughtful finger to her lips. If he wasn't comfortable with drinking amazake she wasn't going to make and it's not like she was a heavyweight herself when it comes to alcoholic beverages.. "Well, I can't hold my alcohol to be honest. So, we don't have to do that!"

With that, she claps her hands together and seems to beam excitedly. Taking a few quick steps forward, she then turns to face him completely and luckily enough, not tripping over her own feet and into the snow!

"Well, since that's decided, we can go get our fortunes or we can write down our wishes for now!" She points to the different stands of the shrine that they can potentially go to. "So is there anything that you're curious about doing or is it up to me?"

The relief was visible on his face as he released a quiet sigh. Thank goodness; the clothes weren't too bad, but if alcohol was factored in his usefulness in a potential crisis could diminish quickly. It was good that Usagi was willing to skip that particular tradition; truth be told he might have caved if she pressured him enough.

His eyes survey the area again, trying to make some sort of sense as to what everyone was doing. Overall, he couldn't figure out a damn thing, so it was best that he let Usagi lead.

"Other than the amazake, I'm basically clueless in respect to this celebration. If it's not a problem, I think it would be best if I follow your lead."

"Alright! Then just leave it to me!" It's a good thing that Usagi isn't an alcoholic drinker if all she would have had to do was bat her pretty blue eyes at him! Given the green light to choose their next destination for the shrine visit, Usagi leads them over to the booth to write down their wishes to hang up for the gods to read.

It's not that long of a wait, and by the time Usagi's gotten her plaque, she knows exactly what to write on it. I wish to find the best boyfriend ever! After waiting for Sousuke to put up his wish, they drop by a small snack vendor to get something small but warm to eat.

From there, Usagi leads him towards the ever growing line to ring the bells to pray for a good new year. Explaining, in Usagi language, why it was so important to everyone that they make these trips during the New Years holidays.
