Long walk and Rockpool

Jan 29, 2020 07:41

Yesterday I hit over 12,000 steps for the first time this year.

I’m sore this morning but glad I managed it (with Caleb in the baby sling).

My walk route was bridge to bridge around the Maribyrnong river.

In the evening we had a family dinner for Jenny’s birthday. Jenny is my brother Akiv’s partner of about 6 years - although they did break up 2 years in because Akiv wasn’t sure. Jenny’s is Vietnamese-Australian and my parents haven’t been very warm towards her. Likewise, her family have not been very friendly to Akiv.... it’s so sad for both of them and makes the relationship complicated unnecessarily.

So Rockpool was packed even on a Tuesday night. Lots of tourists - especially Chinese tourists doing the New Year celebratory thing. Akiv shouted us all and was very generous given menu items were PRICEY AF! Rockpool is some fancy chef’s restaurant. Know Neil Perry anyone? The steak I ordered was tender and delicious (but I’ve had steak just as good at Marble and Grain in Canberra for cheaper)! The sides were all veggo but they were amazing. The gratin was standout and had pickly saurkraut in there too! I’ve never had that kinda flavour before so am goin to recreate that.
