Summary: Oliver attempts to share uncandy with the affected Eithan and Jamie.

[Luckily, Eithan never went back home during this... episode. Apparently, he was content to hang around, plotting his continued rise to power in the ranks of the Order. You know, when he wasn't setting fire to the bar, the forest...

He spots Oliver, and he's pretty sure the guy's going to come over and try talking to him again. He fixes him with an already exasperated expression, arms crossed, but he doesn't say anything yet.]

[punkblaze]

[Not his fault... wow. It's like deja vu. Didn't Oliver say that before, after he-...]

No. [As if he could get any paler... his eyes go wide again.] Shit. Valerie. Did I...? No. No fuckin' way...

[He shakes his head rapidly.] I-I've gotta go, man. Sorry, but-... I mean, I need to see-... you know? I'll. I'll be right back!

[And in a panic, he immediately drops from the Plane.]

Eithan! [reflexively, Oliver reaches for him, but it's too late. but even after Eithan has disappeared, Oliver can't bring himself to do anything but stand there and wait. his heart is pounding. he knows what Eithan told him, so he knows what he's about to find. and with that in mind, the only thing Oliver can think of that he could possibly do for Eithan is to be here for him when he does find out]

[softly] I'm sorry...

[OOC: HOW COULD I LEAVE IT THERE!?]

[It's nearly a full minute later when Eithan reappears. His eyes are a bit red, as though he'd been crying earlier, but at the moment he's completely still.

He closes his eyes, lets out an incredibly heavy sigh... of relief. When he sinks to the Plane floor on his knees, he's smiling, and laughing a little. He can't help it, he's just so relieved, so happy...!]

She's alive! Hah! Geez... Thank the Goddess...

[Oliver watches him hesitantly, not sure what to do] Eithan...

[but then Eithan sinks to the ground in relief, and then he's smiling, and Oliver just can't believe it] Wh...what? She is!? [his eyes are wide with hopeful disbelief. Eithan definitely said he killed her, but...could she really be all right after all?]

Is she okay? What happened!? What's going on?

[punkblaze]

[He shakes his head, still unable to stop smiling.]

Shit, I don't know! I guess it all happened here... I never blew anything up back home, I didn't kill anyone, I just... I seriously thought I did. But I didn't. [Another short, relieved laugh] She's okay.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver's eyes are as wide as saucers--and then he breaks out in a grin that's even wider] That's...that's fantastic! Eithan! [but he's at a loss for words. he's just so, so happy and relieved]

[punkblaze]

[Oliver's at a loss for words? Eithan's probably ten times worse. He can't stop smiling, can't stop laughing... never has he felt this much relief, and all at once...!

He eventually manages to stand, takes a deep breath. He turns his smile to Oliver.]

Man... thank you. Seriously. I'm... not really sure how toothpaste helped, but uh. It did. I really, really owe you one. Or maybe about fifty.

[oliverplus]

Oh! [Oliver remembers the toothpaste then, and he hurries over to pick it up. then he turns back to Eithan, smiling sheepishly] It was from the shop, that's all. Asch and Leela helped me get it. And anyway, you would've done the same. [he smiles broadly] It's just good to see you again, Eithan!

[punkblaze]

Trust me, it's good to be back.

[He shakes his head. He's still smiling, but now he's thinking back on how he was behaving... his expression is a little dar.]

Man. Loyal to the Order, huh...? [He sighs.] They would have me kill everyone I love, wouldn't they? [He grits his teeth.] Man. Fuck 'em.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver's smile fades, too, but he nods encouragingly] But that's how you know that's never gonna happen.

[punkblaze]

Yeah. No. I'd rather die. [There's no hesitation there. He has enough innocent blood on his hands... but that's not something he's ready to talk about freely. Not unless asked, and maybe not even then.]

[oliverplus]

[Oliver knows the feeling--there are a lot of things he'd rather die than be forced into. but he doesn't want Eithan to feel resigned to that] Then it's a good thing it's not coming to that, huh?

[and, trying to distract him from those thoughts:] What did Val say when you saw her, anyway?

[punkblaze]

Let's hope not. [Honestly, he's pretty optimistic about the whole thing, but he's learned better than to go around proclaiming as much. Habits die hard.]

Heh. She told me I was late. [He smiles a bit.] She might think I'm crazy now, I kinda stared at her for a little bit before I could even think of somethin' to say.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver grins] What, you don't do that around her regularly?

[punkblaze]

[Snort! He rubs the back of his head.]

Okay yeah, I do. But It's not usually followed by askin' if that's really her and just about cryin' in front of her. [Sheepish smile~]
