So have you ever wanted to talk to sealife, but instead were born with the ability to fly? Have you ever wished you could read minds, but instead can only bring the apocalypse? This is your chance.
Basically, This:
Characters wake up with somebody else's powers. They don't have their own anymore! Oh no! Coincidentally, you have also lost one of your signature possessions: something really important to you that you can identify as your own. Darn! How do you solve this?
Well, fortunately, you also get a note beside you wherever you slept (or an audio message for the seeing-impaired) that says this:
You have what isn't yours. Someone possesses a thing that belongs to you. Find it, and everything else will be put back where it belongs.
On the Cryptic Notes Scale of 1-10, there is worse.
How does this actually work?
The basic premise is easy. People get powers not their own. To get their powers back, they have to find their item, which is now in another world. But since their item is not necessarily in the world of the person who gets their powers, they are going to have to look for it in all different worlds.
Note: Don't forget that powers come with weaknesses. If you become Superman, you will have a weakness to Kryptonite and your powers will only function under an orange sun.
If you get that, don't read what I'm about to write next, because I'm going to try to explain this with examples.
I'm going to use Superman, Spiderman, Sam Tyler, and Frederic Chopin for this example. Superman has the power of being Superman, Spiderman has spider powers, Sam has no powers, and neither does Chopin. For power swaps, Spiderman gets Superman's powers, Sam gets Spiderman's powers, Superman gets Sam's powers (which means Superman has no powers), and Chopin isn't participating.
Each of the characters has a special item: for Sam, it's a leather jacket; for Spiderman, it is a brooch from his aunt; for Superman, it is a really nice hat. Chopin's powers weren't given away, so he doesn't have an item.
The leather jacket ends up in Chopin's world, the brooch ends up in Superman's world, the hat is in Sam's world, and Spiderman doesn't get an item.
Let's say Superman talks to Sam and finds out about the hat and he gets it back. Yay! Superman gets his powers back. But Spiderman hasn't found his brooch yet, so he still has Superman's powers. He doesn't get his powers back until he touches that brooch. And maybe he doesn't want his powers back. Well. There's no making him give them back, is there? But Sam really wants his jacket, so he goes to Chopin, but Chopin already gave the jacket to Spiderman because Spiderman was cold so now Sam has to go to Spiderman to get it.
Obviously, lots of hijinks.
When does this plot start?
It starts on the 20th!
When does this end?
There is no set end time. When a character gets their item back, they have won. If they don't, then in theory, they could have Superman's powers for the rest of their lives.
A Four Step Process:
1. Comment here volunteering your character(s)'s powers as up for grabs and stating your item.
2. Comment to whoever's powers you would like your character to have.
3. Comment to another person and request a character's item.
4. ???
5. Profit.
Go ahead and take advantage of this to plot for hijinks. If your character desperately wants their power back, consider giving their item to someone who would be very reluctant to hand it over. If your character wouldn't want to hand back the dangerous power you snatched up for them, consider giving their item to someone who would force them to give up such dangerous power. Or maybe give it to someone who wouldn't care, but who a third party will take the item from if they find out what is going on. Consider letting your characters go on questing parties through worlds to find their items. Cause mayhem. Save the world. Manipulate, cheat, and do good. And feel free to put up further plotting posts as you go along.

If you want, you can have a text box.
