"Every time ye say that, Doctor, something goes wrong." Still, Jamie allows himself to be led inside the library - although not without a heavy sigh.

Once they're in there, he looks around, a little uncertainly. It's...quiet in here. Maybe a little too quiet.

"Which way are we going, then?"

The Doctor consults her chart, which is to say she squints at it for a while before tossing it over her shoulder. She shall rely on her keen sense of direction, then! "That way."

Jamie pauses long enough to retrieve the chart - the Doctor may not think she needs it, but it might come in useful somewhere. That or she'll decide that she does need it after all and then they'll have to go back and fetch it again.

Folding it up, he slips it in the pocket of his sheepskin vest and follows after her. "So what are those numbers that were on the note, anyway?"

"The Dewey Decimal system. It's how we'll find the book."

You know, if she hadn't thrown it off.

Yes, he'll just not mention that part. Instead, he wanders along with the Doctor, peering at various labels on the books.

"How does this Dewey Decimal thing work, then?"

The question's partially curiosity and partly some strange urge to fill the odd silence with something. Anything. Maybe that will make things feel less oppressive.

"Oh, it's... something about numbers denoting subjects. I met the man once, but odd. Fond of peaches."

...Unless she's got him mixed up with the 23rd-century philosopher again.

Er. "Did you hear something?"

A faint shuffling noise comes from somewhere nearby, as if something is walking with them through the stacks. But surely that's imagination, isn't it?

Nothing else could possibly be with them in the library.

"Hey?" Jamie is in the middle of reaching for a book, but turns back for a moment to look at the Doctor questioningly. "I've not heard anything, no."

He hasn't, either, so goes back to what he was doing, pulling out the the tome so he can peer at the cover. He gives it a rather disbelieving look, then opens the cover and flips through a few pages just to make sure.

"Washing machine repair? Why would ye bother to write a book about that?" Jamie puts it back on the shelf, shaking his head. "I don't think it's in this section, Doctor."
