A Vacation Scam That Isn't Scamming You

The Machine is apparently feeling merciful lately, because characters are getting two gifts in a row. As a follow-up of pets (who are also invited) the Machine will be granting people free one week vacations!

While on the Plane, a ghostly and glowing holographic message may appear before a character. It will say this:

"This is to inform you that you that the Machine is favouring you. This week, anyway. You're getting your own universe, so think hard. Really, really think about what you want. This is your vacation, not mine, not that it ever is. It's not my fault if you screw it up, so don't leave the Plane until you've got your head around something good. Enjoy it while it lasts. It's just this once, probably.

Roe."

The next time they leave the Plane, they'll feel a rushing and coldlness, and for a moment they'll see billions of stars and galaxies while falling down. This feeling won't happen again, but it marks their transition to their vacation world's universe.

Your Dream World

From within the multiverse, the Machine has selected a time and a place in one universe that matches your character's idea of a vacation. This is not a specific place, like their childhood home or Vegas, but it may be similar to their childhood home if that's what they would see as a vacation. It is a universe foreign to their own, so you guys can have fun world-building.

For example, a character may have enjoyed their time in a peaceful multicultural university city called Aldarant. While they will not get exactly that city, they will get a peaceful multicultural university city by another name, filled with people who remind that character of the people from Aldarant. If Aldarant was on an island, this new city may indeed be on a similar but not identical island. The Plane may have chosen to give them accommodations and currency, but it might have forgotten about that bit. That is up to you.

Characters still have access to the Plane. Their trip will last them a week, and no time will have passed in their home reality while they were gone.

Company

It is possible for more than one character to end up in the same place, at the discretion of muns. You can plan that out on your own. Alternately, you can comment here with a description of your character's vacation world (such as “ peaceful, multicultural university city on an island”) and others whose characters have similar ideas can comment to that so you can plan to bring them together. Feel free to use this post to discuss and plan. Of course, if a character really wants a vacation from the people they know, this probably won't happen. Then again, we all know that the universe (and muns) tend towards the perverse.

This plot is of course optional. If you don't want your character to take a vacation, they're just (un)lucky enough not to get the message. Characters can start getting messages on Thursday, but they should stop getting messages by Monday, meaning the last of the trips should be over by Monday of next week. Which may be good, because we have something planned to break our nice plot streak.

Or maybe it's bad. You might want the summer sun and the martinis to get you through it.
