I've started exercising again for the first time in foreeeeeever and as terrible as running is, it feels great! Also, just to pass on this knowledge I came across yesterday, sneaking into a high school after dark to use their track is really, really creepy. So, uh, bring a flashlight or a friend if you plan to do so. That said, if you have ( Read more... )

RUNNING YES YAY I AM PROUD OF YOU WELCOME TO THE RUNNING CLUB. It gets easier if you stick with it consistently for like 2 weeks.

Also, yes agree re: Sherlock S3. What was that? Also firmly cemented my opinion that Elementary is the superior show.

Yes! I just reached the two week mark (I've been doing half an hour every other day, which may not be that much? but it's pretty good considering how inactive I've been >.>) and every time seems shorter and easier. Also it's starting to feel good afterwards. Woohoo for the body's natural happy drugs! :D I have some music that's conducive to running, but I've started listening to podfic and it's AMAZING! I think I might download some bbc radio plays as well in the future.

The third episode just didn't feel cohesive at ALL and the ending climax bit dragged on and on and I was honestly left with no strong feelings either way about any of it, which isn't the best sign for a show, lol. The whole season was very "structure, what structure?" and felt very indulgent, like it was a TV show version of a doodle rather than a painting. If that makes sense.

Agree re Sherlock (incl what you said to who I believe is Unagi?). I feel like the whole season was made up of things I desperately loved despite everything, or things I really disliked despite everything, but have very few feelings about it as a cohesive whole. (Primarily because it wasn't.)

ALSO! Running! Are you using podcast things? I can't remember if you were there when I was talking to Katie about the NHS Couch to 5k thing that I used but oh man that got me achieving~ SO QUICKLY.

who also brought some random friend of hers to tag along for some reason :(

... well then.

Oh, good. Sarah said she had the opposite feelings as me on everything and will explain later, so it's good to know before I hear her out that I'm not crazy. (also yes! that is unagi!)

What podcasts would you reccommend? for now I'm listening to podfic, but it's going to run out eventually.

I knew the friend that visited is occasionally manipulative - at school, she'd ask if I'd want to bake/cook together and then it would turn out to be something for a club event; she would beg me to come out for taco tuesday and then I'd get there and her entire frat would be there and I'd have to sit and make awk small talk - but I figured that she wanted to visit me rather than have a guided tour of San Diego. Apparently I was wrong. ._.

ALL THE PODCASTS!!!! As running things go I really did enjoy the NHS Couch to 5k, which trains you up to running 5k in half an hour, but when I outstripped that I started listening to BBC History Hour or BBC Women's Hour podcasts and they both kept me going for a long time because they were just so interesting. (The History Hour one in particular is, while somewhat royals-centric, still really good for world~ history -- the tagline is something like history by those who saw it, and I enjoyed listening to it a lot!)

To continue the other conversation, this girl is clearly a vowel. Or maybe a Y. >.>. Sorry bro, that is really disappointing even if not a total shock :|

I am doing couch to 5k - there's a separate podcast for it?
