2008: The year of removing myself from in front of the door.

Jan 02, 2009 19:11

2008 is over. Finally. I say this every year, but quite a bit happened. My life changed dramatically in the matter of moments, and I find myself glad with the changes that have occurred over the last twelve months.

To start out with, I've been back at home for a year. This time last year, I was unemployed and re-reading the Harry Potter series to ( Read more... )

fucktard, fuck that shit, life, new year.

Hey! You quoted me! I'm suing for copyright matters.

Goodeth for you. Seriously, ignore searching for a relationship. You have years ahead of you, a good one will find you in time.

Ahh, no wonder you've been all "Vagina Monologues" lately. You work in a sausage factory. That's pretty cool that you've made your place there. Christ that had to have been awkward in the beginning.

Have a great year, Fassewells.

Tasks I think you would find fulfilling for the year:

1. Buy and watch all 3 seasons of the funniest sitcom of all time, Arrested Development

2. Read these books: Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West / Watchmen / The Time Machine Did It / The Road / Underworld / House of Leaves / Said The Shotgun to the Head/ and The Stupidest Angel

3. See these films: Let the Right One In / David Lynch Essentials: Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Muholland Dr. / Synecdoche, New York / The Wrestler / JCVD / The Third Man / Parents / Schizopolis / Paths of Glory / and Barton Fink

sausage factory doesn't begin to describe where i work. it's rare for a female to work night crew. most night crew veterans have only ever worked with one or two ever.

1. i'll download some episodes of arrested development and see how i like it
2. i ALMOST bought the road today, and have been interested in reading underworld for about four years now. I also have planned to read watchmen before i see the movie.
3. want to see muholland dr., and i don't know how i feel about barton fink.

but i just watched burn after reading. i actually liked it.
and yes, i realize i have been all "vagina monologues" lately. i'm sure it will subside with time.
and no, it wasn't awkward at all. i was always a tomboy and played well with boys. you just have to show them that you can think like them. :)

Barton Fink is my favorite Coen Brothers film(though Fargo is their most accomplished work). I love everything about it, especially all the symbolism.

Hulu.com has all 3 AD seasons streaming for free. Watch from the beginning, because 50% of the jokes are foreshadowing, running jokes. It really is the smartest comedy ever written. No doubt you'll be hooked and run through the whole series, but you also want to watch multiple times. I've seen episodes upwards of 10 times and I STILL find jokes I didn't catch before. It's that layered. Also, it's not pretentious at all. The comedy is across the map: sight gags, satire, foreshadowing, running, slapstick, mockumentary. It has EVERYTHING.

i downloaded the first three episodes (it's still downloading because my router has a hard time sending signal through two floors of concrete) and I plan to watch them this week.

Apparently, I'm an r-tard and didn't realize that barton fink was a coen brothers film. Now i'm interested. I'll get right on that.

Also

add: Happiness, Days of Heaven, Dead Ringers, Brick, After Hours, Citizen Ruth, and Bringing Out The Dead to that film list. I love recommending random koo movies, it makes me feel sexy.
