IN CHARACTER: Hanbei loves camp. Like, he really fucking loves camp, okay. Since he's unable to go back home to canon anyway, this is basically just bonus time he wasn't expecting to live for, and he gets to spend it in a place full of interesting and wacky folks from all kinds of places he never imagined existed, and he's got a library with a pretty impressive range of stuff to check out, and computers oh wow they are the neatest thing ever. So he has (mostly) made his peace with his own fate, and is pretty content to just read about new and exciting things and troll people until whenever he has to leave camp. He has a few (well-buried) issues that still nag at him, but he's good at looking on the sunny side of things, so he's doing fine.
OUT OF CHARACTER: wow do I love playing Hanbei. He's easy to throw at people, he functions perfectly well without a cast although you should still app me one, and he hits my nerd ping but still lets me indulge in my occasional desire to say horrible horrible things. And I find myself only loving him more and more over time; I'm still working on unlocking all the events in Samurai Warriors Chronicles (29%...
) and I keep discovering all these positively delightful little gems in there that make me stop and go AAAAAAAH HANBEI X3 and that give him way more depth than SW3 alone (which is what I had apped from, since I didn't have a 3DS at that point). I seriously need to essay on how freaking amazing SWC is in terms of giving me awesome things to work from. And Koei is being very good to me, because he's apparently going to be one of the leading characters in the new Warriors Orochi game which has time travel and giant snakes and laser shooting moon princesses. SO EXCITE. Between how fun he is to play and canon coming to keep charging up my interest, I think we cool.

IN CHARACTER: Boyue is...slightly less fond of camp. He really likes the educational opportunities (why do I keep apping historical nerds), but that's also balanced with the fact that DUTY IS EVERYTHING!!!1 and as long as he's in camp, he's not at home with the army where he should be. Xing Cai coming to camp has helped with that a little (in that at least he's fulfilling the duty of looking after his empress...never mind that he probably needs babysitting more than she does), but he'd rather they were both home, and that's not gonna change. Hawke is still his bro for life, Sima Zhao is still a dick, blah blah yada yada.
OUT OF CHARACTER: I like playing him! It just doesn't happen that much since I picked up Hanbei, because Hanbei has settled very comfortably into being my primary. I am always willing to bring him out if anyone wants me to tag them somewhere, though, so if you ever have a thread and you're like "man this could use some Floaty" or you just want to play somewhere anywhere, tell me and if I'm not homeworking at the moment we can make it happen. He's got new canon coming out next month (he won't have his own stage in DW7XL, but I have high hopes for the heartbreaking possibilities in Liu Shan's scenario...), and I'm still eagerly awaiting info on what he'll be doing in the new Orochi game, so I'm hoping those will give me a little burst of floaty energy and I'll get him out more. He's definitely not going anywhere, but he's definitely my backburner right now.
