The question is irrelevant. The answer is always Bowie.

It's no secret that I have enjoyed a lifelong obsession with David Bowie. Through all his incarnations, I've loved watching and listening to his strange stories through song. He celebrated his sixty-sixth birthday this year and is releasing a new album in March ( Read more... )

You know, I'll bet if you write him a letter with the suggestion, he might consider putting his name in the hat to be the next Doctor! ;-)

Excellent work, BTW!

I would love to see him portray the Doctor! But I think at 66, Bowie's earned his enjoyment of family life and retirement. He has a new album coming out soon but he's said that touring isn't in the future. I would like to see him act again though. That would be awesome.

Thank you! It's good to be back. Facebook has just become too much like shorthand. Plus, I'm a weirdo but an introvert. I feel that I'm too exposed there.

i love how watercolor demands you work with white lines and accents. and this is a very nice example of that.

i was recently listening to the album Heathen, which i bought when it first came out but wasn't that enamoured of and now it just floors me how absolutely good it is. what Bowie does, no one else on earth does as well...

Thanks! I need to do more watercolors. I do like working with it; it's almost the opposite of oil paint for how quickly it works. There's very little that goes according to plan with watercolor.

I'm going to re-listen to Heathen tonight. I didn't give it enough of a chance. But I've been reading about Bowie's musical influences and how he works lately, so I'm learning a new appreciation for all of his albums. Even a 'bad' Bowie album is better than most of the mediocre garbage I hear on the radio.

I'm pretty obsessed with Alt-J lately (they're a new band out of the U.K.), for similar reasons to my Bowie obsession. Stream-of-consciousness lyrics, vivid imagery, strange rhythms...my ears have gotten better at enjoying layers as I've gotten older.
