My geeky side is no secret. I love fine art and elegant portraits of mysterious strangers.

But I also adore sci-fi adventures, inexplicable alien encounters and wildly narrow escapes. So here’s Doctor Who, a lifelong friend of mine though he doesn’t know me. Or maybe he did once in the future. I certainly hope so...

Thank you! I added a lens flare on the Doctor Who picture, just for his sonic screwdriver. The stars/snow are gouache splatters (an old illustration technique to hide streaky markers with atmospheric noise).

Copic markers are alcohol-based, so they dry out quickly but the color blending is really cool. I've wanted some for years, and they finally have them in the U.S. (they are made in Japan).

I'm going to post some paintings again as well. I'm still working with oils, though my studio is really chilly in winter so it slows me down. :)

Those are both awesome! Though, do you have another painting of the Doctor with a fez?? ;-)

(Fez's are cool...)

Thanks, Patty! I've worked with other markers but Copics are different...the pigment bleeds more but they blend so nicely.

I'm seriously considering doing tattoo design work. Maybe not tattooing, but making design work. Markers make the kind of bold colors that people like for those kind of designs.
