"It's a backdoor play, idiots!" "Bro, maybe that's why you're having trouble getting her pregnant."

I just took the bins out, and I was about to be all "ew ew gross wtf why is there gum on the outside of our bin??" Then I realised it was actually leftover blutack from when I was sticking up VOTE SAXON posters a year and a half ago. Oops. I swear we clean things ( Read more... )

My keys weigh about three pounds and are enormous so that I can't lose them; it makes wearing them on the wrist a little difficult. *sigh*

Oh, that is brutal, bb. :/ I'm lucky -- my dad is nuts for efficiency (lol the most stereotypical german) so the keys for my parents place are all keyed alike, work is only one key, and the flat is only two keys. And my car keys are both on separate rings, so I actually don't have all that many keys anymore.

Part of it's on purpose? Like, I still have keys from the three cars I drove that we don't own anymore (so old it died, so old it died, T-boned during lunch hour), mostly because I am a sentimental hoarder, but partly because if my keychain is huge and heavy I can throw it into a big bag and still be fairly certain I can find it again. Similarly, I HATE that cell phones are getting smaller and thinner all the time. I miss my second-gen Sidekick that you could get a rubber casing for, which you could safely drop but which sounded like a bowling ball dropping if you did.

Oh man, I hear you on that. Makes perfect sense! I have a stargate keychain on mine which I love both because even though the show decided that it didn't want my dirty lady money, it's still a pretty keychain, and almost more importantly -- it's for some reason but a shape and texture that I can easily find in my bag. USUALLY. Stupid bag. :(

We had such a long conversation the other day about how it was weird that phones are getting 'smaller' but they no longer fit properly in bras when you're trying to shove them there and don't have pockets. Heh.

I've had a sturdy hair elastic on my keyring for years. I use it to hang my keys from their hook by the door and to hold them in my teeth when I have no hands. It's super useful.

Ooh, that is another bonus point, I hadn't thought of the hanging them part as well. ...mostly because I hang mine from the Stargate keychain, heee. But ooh, yes, hairtie would be way better for teeth holding (which I am also massively prone to doing, congratulations to my dentist's children's educations) than metal keyring. Well played!

My favourite thing is how much less likely I am to accidentally dislocate a finger by having the keyring itself looped over one while I try to carry/open/do whatever things.

Yeah, I used to have a carabiner but I broke it. :( And I've been trying to reduce the overall weight on my keys since I keep getting lectured by mechanics. Though admittedly since they replaced the ignition in the truck that hasn't really been an issue. *g* But oh man, yeah, I bet that would be a pain. Man, if people just wouldn't steal shit everything would be so much easier!

Gotcha, yeah. I've separated my keys out so that I have a separate full set of house keys on each carkey ring, so the only one I don't have a backup for is the crazy secure work one, but it was still getting to be a lot until I reorganised them. I used to do well with keeping mine in my bag, but until I can get a new bag, I really like being able to dig them out somewhere that I can actually dig around my bag in -- eg, just before I walk out to my car, or in the car before I run through the rain to the house -- and not have to carry them for that minute or two.

And you should definitely pp! You're back from the mountains now, right? I forgot to ask how long you were up this weekend.

I mean, I usually have like five in my bag anyway -- you've seen my hair, there's a LOT of it and it likes to eat elastics -- but they're so much easier to FIND on my keys. :D
