So if executing criminals is in fact the behavior of a civilized society, why do we bother with the injection cocktails and the private closed-to-media viewings and all this pussyfooting around the idea of the state ending an adult human's life? I say bring back the public hangings and good ol' decapitations for everyone to enjoy. It all comes to ( Read more... )

That's just it. The nanny-state types want to protect us and the leeetle cheeldren from the horrid sight of gibbet fruit, and the police state types don't want to answer to the mob when it doesn't agree with whom they want to kill. And major league sports don't want the competition. (Who cares about first downs or stock car crashes or nine-man-stand-around when there's a beheading?)

Sorry, I'm just waxing snarky. Please ignore.

Well, we could integrate it into the sporting events. Like, a basketball game set up so the blade swings down if and when a team reaches 100 points. If they don't make it, he gets a stay of execution until the next game! Players who made the crucial basket could get a cute little icon next to their name for the rest of the season, it'd be epic.

That's pretty good. You could have the guillotine right above the net, so not only would the head would follow the crucial ball, the condemned would have the best seat in the house (until.)

Another option for executions would be to force the condemned to breathe the breath of a cat in dire need of dental care. I have a cat next to me RIGHT NOW who is going in for teeth cleaning TOMORROW and I swear his breath would peel the varnish off a canoe paddle. FOO.
