Taeyeon
Taeyeon didn’t understand why she’d been sorted into Gryffindor. She lacked Sooyoung’s confidence and Yuri’s charm, both her friends nearly overflowing with charisma. Taeyeon belonged in the background and sometimes she thought it would’ve been easier for everyone if she’d been sorted into Hufflepuff with her best friend Stephanie- just like everyone expected her to.
Three years ago, when the Sorting Hat bellowed out “GRYFFINDOR!” there had been silence for a moment as Taeyeon quietly clambered to her table, shoulders shaking in shock. A kindhearted third year broke the silence when he slapped her shoulder playfully and the cheering started albeit late, blending with the Hufflepuff’s cheers for a Lee Jinki.
Taeyeon had looked desolately at the uncertain, but friendly faces, who were obviously confused as to how this small and mousy girl had managed to land in the house that formed the greatest and bravest wizards in history. She let out a sigh.
I don’t belong here.
Taeyeon wasn’t like her fellow Gryffindors who charged bravely into any situation, regardless of the dangers it held. She was the one who tried to hold Yuri back when they discovered that three-headed dog. She was the one that hated eavesdropping on the professors from under their Invisibility Cloak. She was the one that hid that amazing map of Hogwarts so that Yuri and Sooyoung didn’t prank the entire school to death. She really didn’t belong in Gryffindor.
And Taeyeon never believed in that statement as much as she did now as the Goblet of Fire glowed red once more, a fourth slip of paper landing in Sooman’s hands, shock spreading through his face as he read “Kim Taeyeon” to a stunned Great Hall.
Yes, Taeyeon thought to herself, body going numb as Yuri pulled her to her feet and Sooyoung gave her a starting push towards the stone-faced headmasters. I don’t belong here at all.
