This is one of the most moving stories about the Longbottoms that I have ever read. It makes the tragedy of Frank and Alice so real without needing to show angst from the characters; in fact it is Augusta's stoic behaviour that wounds the heart more than any flailing could.
And then to add to this, Alice is shown in Augusta's memory to be a wonderful, special witch, deceptively powerful and exceptionally smart, and the relationship between the two women is beautifully, realistically drawn.
This was aptly written for femgenficathon because it truly shows the strength of two wonderful women in the HP fandom.
