House of Cards
After the second Quarter Quell ends with battle, Peeta Mellark is taken back to the Capitol to be broken. Rating for violence, especially in later chapters.

Why you should read this …
This story meshes so well with canon that after reading it, you'll find it impossible to conceive of an alternate interpretation of events. fernwithy has a gift for spinning out backstory to the main events that is so plausible, you'll find yourself believing that of course Suzanne Collins intended those things to happen, she just couldn't fit it into Katniss's point of view. Add to that an incredibly vivid narrative, seamless dialogue, and fantastic characterisation, you won't even think of this as fanfic--it's practically an extension of canon!
