Why you should read this …
Characterisation doesn't get any better than this! fernwithy does an amazing job with Snow--all his psychopathic tendencies are there, lurking underneath the surface, and you can sort of see them in a sideways-glance sort of way. It's first-person narrative, and done so cleverly that you can appreciate why the sociopath thinks the way he does and yet have that feeling beneath it that this is wrong. Add to it the wealth of creative detail that she has included to build the world and setting in the seventy-five years prior time period, you can understand perfectly how Panem is the way it is both in the fic and years later when the actual canon takes place. It's a bit of a creepy experience, being in Snow's head, but exactly what you need in a Snow-fic. This is chillingly perfect.
