Why you should read this ...
To start with, dialogue and banter--the crown jewel of this story. Every exchange between the characters is spot-on, and funny and refreshing to boot. The interactions are fantastic and showcase the characters and relationships at their best. I think this was maybe written pre-BoO hence the Rachel/Nico, but the relationship works well enough in the fic and isn't a huge part of it anyway. There's a fine balance with the backstory and the narrative plus plot, so you get key bits of information about all the character histories between canon and where the story starts off, without distracting from the plot advancement. The Greek mythology setting is well integrated throughout with little references reminding us of the familiarity of those legends to these characters, and it makes reading it a very rich experience. There is childbirth involved, but it's handled nicely (at least from the point of view of someone who hasn't experienced actual childbirth, so maybe I'm not the best to comment on that). Either way, I liked the balance of humour and seriousness as well as adventure with a common life event.
