Paypal?

A question for all paypal users out there:
Do you NEED a credit card/bank account to activate/use paypal+receive money? Or is it optional when you're paying money?
Because I'm using Jelobee's account right now, and I want to get my own. (even though she doesn't use it.)

I think you can buy stuff, if they take that ..digital.. electronic money thing. That you get if someone pays you. but if they require a creditcard to buy something then you need a card. ;A;
