Ahahahaha! Yes, the snivelling runt. Narnia was too nice as a fairytale land, which allowed wimps like him to live longer than they should.

I would have thought the moral was: If you cry hard enough, someone will actually feel nice enough to pity you and give you a clue.

I think it's you can be forgiven for being a selfish, useless jerk if you cry enough shikomekidomi December 12 2010, 08:10:22 UTC
That story would have been hundreds of times better if he just followed the ship, fried all their enemies, and forced them to stop to forage a lot more often.
Some of the kids in the Narnia books are kind of... completely inessential to the plot with roles that could be filled by anyone or left out all together. I mean, if you have to just give them magic weapons for Christmas, couldn't you give those to anyone?
I probably showed you this, of course:

Oh, Bob.
But seriously, the kids are as useless as these kids (beware heavy in-jokes and this isn't actually his best review, but it is relevant):

I mean it, they didn't even have to go fetch the magic weapons, which could conveniently have only been wielded by other-worldly beings (and perhaps only other-worldly energies could permanently kill the White Witch, who's origins are from another universe than Narnia, after all).
Nope, they just run around doing things anyone from Narnia could do and many of those could do better. I guess you could say it's just the story of these kids from our world getting caught up in dramatic events, but then why does everyone keep making a big deal about them?
I can see why those books are classics but they really fall apart under fridge logic.
