Half a year after the injunction was served to the company, the management decided that waiting for the three would be unwise. After the dramas that were filmed to keep them visible, they decided it was time to record songs with just the two of them. ‘Test songs’ are what they are called, they were given three songs to try out. Maximum which first part is for him and the next part was for Changmin while they sang together at some parts. ‘Big Time’ is an upbeat song given to Changmin as a solo while Keep Your Head Down was for him.
Yunho was sitting at the sofa, listening to the demo song and studying the music sheets when Changmin came in the door with Kyuhyun and Minho. They were laughing and talking loudly while walking in the apartment. “Yunho-hyung!” Minho shouted, “Where were you? We wanted to take you with us to the pizza parlor but you weren’t around!”
“We even tried to call you but you weren’t answering.” Kyuhyun added.
“Ah, I was at the studio. I didn’t hear my phone ringing.” He replied thoughtfully, wondering if they really called sing his phone is in his pocket but in never rang.
“Pft. I’m sure you didn’t. You asked me to put it in silent mode remember? Have you figured out how to switch it back to normal ringing mode?” Changmin mocked as he walked towards the kitchen to get drinks.
“Eh? When did I ask you that?” He shouted to the kitchen while keeping an eye at Minho and Kyuhyun who plopped themselves on the carpet and turned on the T.V and game console.
Changmin came back with a round of eye rolls before giving him a bottle of iced tea and throwing sodas to their visitors. “This morning before I went out.” He turned to the visitors. “Hey, give hyung the pizza’s we ordered for take out.”
Minho reached for his bag and gave Yunho the two boxes of solo sized pizza then he took out a bag of potato chips and offered some to Changmin. “Yunho-hyung missed a lot of fun. He should go with us next time.”
“Sure I will.” Yunho promised.
“You just got baited, he wants you to come so you will pay and he can freeload.” Changmin said before sitting beside him.
Kyuhyun laughed loud while Minho denied Changmin’s accusation.
“Changmin is telling the truth, he was extremely protesting when we told him he had to pitch in for the bill.” Kyuhyun said while maneuvering his character on the arena.
“Well, why can’t you guys pay? Why can’t you feed a dongsaeng just like what Yunho hyung does?” Minho teased them with a pout. “Changmin hyung has been living with Yunho hyung for more than seven years, his generosity should have rubbed on you by now.”
“Yep, I’ve been living with him for such a long time, I never had to pay for things. He even buys me clothes and shoes. So pity for you, paying for other people’s bill is alien to me.” Changmin replied with an ‘evil’ glint in his eyes.
“LeeTeuk hyung does the same. Food is always free for me!” Kyuhyun added. Yunho laughed at the two, Minho will never win against them.
“Yunho-hyung, it is just right that they properly treat a dongsaeng right?” Minho said, trying to get Yunho to side with him.
“Give it up, if you want free meals go take Yunho hyung with you, his credit cards and cash are always good.” Changmin took a piece of pizza from the box that Yunho opened.
Yunho laughed again, “Ah, but I have been without work for a few months now.”
Minho clucked his tongue, “Says the man whose face is on a lot of magazines, not to mention Evisu jeans’ ads. If that is not work and it makes you penniless, damn, I might be a hobo soon.”
“You should ask hyung for jeans while you’re at it too. Food is good but clothes last longer. Especially high end ones like Evisu.” Kyuhyun said as he made his character maim its enemy.
“Aish, you guys. Alright let’s go bowling tonight. My treat, as well as dinner.” Yunho stood up while finishing his pizza. He took the music sheets and the iPod with him putting them up to be worked on tomorrow. With their hiatus, they have free time for friends and family.
“Oh here goes his bowling addiction again.” Changmin complained.
“What? I go play bowling with you guys and you get to eat with us. That’s our hobbies right there. Win-win situation for everyone.” Yunho reasoned proudly as he put his hands on his hips.
“Free dinner and bowling! Yunho hyung is the best.” Minho announced.
Changmin gave him a droll stare. “You’re so easy.”
“Hey, hey, come on. You guys play that game and I’ll just take a shower and change. Changmin choose which place you want.” Yunho said then padded to his bedroom.
“Hyung why did you make Changmin hyung in charge? He’ll choose no-fun places. We won’t have cute girls as audience.” Minho protested.
“You either let him choose no-fun places-” Yunho started to say then Changmin finished for him, “or you don’t go with us.”
Kyuhyun laughed evilly and high-fived with Changmin. “Minho just got pawned.”
Yunho quickly took a shower and chose a change of clothes. He let Changmin choose the place because he knows that the younger man knows places that offer good service and privacy at the same time. Both of them are aware that the situation is still a bit tensed so its better to go under the radar when going out. Being a ninja is Changmin’s specialty so he let him plan out the night, he’ll just go with the easy route of having fun and paying the bills.
Three hours later, Minho is already sulking because he and Kyuhyun are losing to Yunho and Changmin. “It was an unfair pairing, Yunho hyung and Changmin hyung should have split. Aigooooooo.”
“Yah, admitting you just have no talent will be easier for your ego. Being defensive about it just makes it sore longer.” Kyuhyun said as he tries his turn.
“Hyung, I’m hungry. After this round let’s go. We need to take pity at Minho’s damaged confidence.” Changmin said before drinking his water.
“Oh thank you hyung, you just gave my ego a belly rub then squeezed it hard on the groin. You really have to go for the overkill coz if, God forbids, I became and confident and start having self-esteem it might destroy the world!” Minho ranted.
“Graphic, thanks for potentially giving me nightmares.” Kyuhyun made a face. Yunho laughed and face-palmed, Changmin snorted then said, “Was I that annoying when I lipped out on you before?” He looked at Yunho.
“Yunho shook his head, “Pretty much. But you go for one line killer punches rather than go for graphic rants.”
“It makes me wonder why you never hit me.” Changmin stood up and shook his head.
There was actually a big difference between Minho and Changmin when they were at that age. Changmin was a lot more introvert and shy. And there wasn’t much of an ego to feed, if there was any. His self-esteem needed to be built rather than controlled. “Come on, we know who won. Let’s treat Minho with good food so he won’t be so sullen.”
