Riding at Albion Hills this weekend with Zac:

Me: Zac - I am not so sure about riding straight through this section.
Him: Mom! You can do it.
Me: Dude if I crash how are we getting outta here?
Him: I know how to use your phone.

He totally kicks my butt, on so many levels.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm out riding down some descent, carefully picking my way over rocks and logs, when some damn 10-year-old comes blazing by me like I'm standing still. I wish I'd taken up this sport when I was too young to know fear.

Bingo.

Same thing happened - exactly - this kid a few years older than Zac; alone, on a department store bike and no helmet - but opted not to take the drop that woulda bent his rims for sure.

When I think back to my banana seat cruiser I had when grew up in rural Ontario with 200 acres of bush to tool around in - all I can do is laugh.

So this comment was the last thing I read other than work before I left the office and I've spent the last 5 hours giggling about which department store sell horses.
