Why did Clarissa write Brian off for being in the military? And what exactly do you mean by smart, but TOO smart?

I'm not sure why she wrote him off. I didn't really want to push too hard.

And someone can definitely be too smart. A certain amount of smartness can make someone hard to relate to.
