What a busy, lovely, awful, marvelous month! So much has gone on, and I haven't captured it. So here is my best stab at remembering. (word of warning... it's a lot of stuff)
bodily fluids ornaments! His family things and mine on the tree together. To be packed up together when we take the tree down. Now THAT's commitment!
There was a warriorsage intro event, at which I got to speak at length to one of my teachers about stuff that was going on with Matt. He gave me an incredible practice that I put to work immediately with good results. I also did some wonderful work making nervous people feel comfy and welcome. It was a happy night.
I celebrated a certain someone's birthday on the 4th by having a lovely holiday lunch with his darling girlfriend. She gave me a glorious early birthday gift, a certificate which allowed me to go indulge my whims at "TeaCup" on Queen Anne Hill. Just walking into that place was a glorious experience in scents-ory overload. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The following weekend, I scooted off to a weekend women's retreat for a fantastic time of spiritual deepening and lots of laughter. It was just marvelous.
The next few weeks were spent frantically procrastinating any kind of shopping for christmas gifts, but I did get some fabulous things via mail order, among them all sorts of ingredients for making divine bath items... shower gels, sugar scrubs, and body lotion, all scented with my own blends of fragrance. Some of them were spectacular, and a few were appalling, as well as a few that seemed horrid, but aged beautifully over a day or two into something yummy.
I don't have labels yet, but I'm intending to give them all names. It is, obviously, the Goddess line, and each of them as an imperative verb as the name. So far, I have come up with formulas as follows:
Goddess Awake (has clary sage in it)
Goddess Arouse (sensual blend of musk and florals that
eveofdstruction says smell like me!!!)
Goddess Play (floral spice)
Goddess Bewitch (I can't remember. it's written down somewhere)
Goddess Ascend (ditto)
More playing to come. This has been wonderful fun. Solid perfumes is next on the list, and I have all the supplies at the ready.
My mom took me to tea at the Olympic Hotel on the 18th, for an early birthday celebration. That place is insanely beautiful, but I left with a feeling of wistfulness that I'm not wealthy. That's unusual for me. The good news is that while it was a delightful time with me mum, I found that I like my baking better than their pastry chef's. It's not as pretty, but it is generally much more flavorful. So there.
Matt and I got to finally attend a local couple's spiritual practice group. We absolutely loved it. Things like this launch us so much deeper, and I'm infinitely grateful for the practices they gave us. I hope that the stars correctly configure and Matt has the right nights off in the future. This is so good for us.
For my birthday, Matt brought me roses and served me tea in bed. He also gave me a lovely gift of an *ahem* intimate nature, battery-operated intimate nature, if you follow me. So natuarlly, a good time was had by all. Rhiannon and I went to dinner at Wild Ginger and had a lovely time. PLUS... we had a toffee lava cake that was seriously to die for. I had a coconut "martini" which was made with rum. I want to shoot people who name drinks. Martinis do not contain rum. Period. But it was ridiculously good, so I had to refrain from bitching toooo much.
It is about this time that things started to get tricky. My sister called to tell me she had to have surgery on her thyroid. Right away. My mom flew down to be with her, so we missed Christmas with my mom two years in a row. Becca is doing well, thank goodness. But there's more...
My father's wife's granddaughter, who, despite her antecedents is a very likable young woman, collapsed during a marching band event and had to have some sort of procedure done to her heart, also immediately, and also before christmas. She is doing well, but this was scary for everyone.
We had our family Christmas on Christmas Eve, Matt's kids and mine all opening gifts. We had just finished when I got a panicky call from Beauty's father. His mother had fallen and was alone. (she's 95, and he lives with her, east of the mountains) He didn't know what to do, so I took over, told him to get his daughter and get back to her ASAP. It is a good thing I did, too, because the EMTs missed a break and she could not get out of bed the following morning. But I am worried about Rosie, and I didn't get to have Christmas with my duaghter for the first time in her whole life.
That evening, we went to dinner with friends and had a lovely time. matt took his kids home while I put my RocketMan to bed.
In the morning, Matt & RocketMan got out a bb gun and did some target shooting. RM had requested this, believe it or not, and was so happy and proud of what he accomplished. Now he wants a 22. *grin* It was pretty hilarious to hear my little vegetarian talk about how "when you're shooting a turkey, you have to hit 'em right in the neck!" I'm so happy I have my Matt to teach my son how to be a man. He even has him opening my car door for me. It is astonishing.
The kids are all off with their other parental units, and Matt and I have some time for just the two of us. well, when he's not working, of course. This is blissful time for us, and while he's off on his mission, I have time to take down the tree and do all that domestic crap that the house elves refuse to do. (lazy bastards) But with no kids around, what I clean stays clean, and that is unusual and delightful in its own way!
So the new year ends in quiet romance. I cannot wait to see what 2010 is going to bring.
