When Johnny said that he was going to debut, he was estatic. Six years, he has been in the Jimusho. Everyone knew he worked hard and earned this. He was one of the original Ya-ya-yah members, worked on a show and became one of the most known Juniors in the agency. But when he realized it wasn't going to be as Ya-ya-yah, he didn't know what to feel.
Photoshoots, commercials, promotions, and taping-- everything was forced into them quickly as the news was posted on the official JE site. He was never given the time to think about things anymore.
"There are only a few things you can do once you've debuted." Nakamaru Yuichi told him one day, during a break from Shounen Club taping. "Either you continue what you're doing... or leave." The problem was... he didn't want to do either. He walked and watched everyone on the set. Hikaru was even enjoying himself with Yamada and Yuto by making weird faces with a donut. Chinen was sitting on Takaki's lap, as Takaki was looking up to Arioka. Okamoto was practicing his steps as Morimoto was talking to his younger brother.
He continued on walking until he was already at the very back. There he found another pair of brothers in the Jimusho. "You can't let them do that, onii-san! You've been here as long as they have! Even longer!" The younger one of the two yelled at the one sitting down.
"I know, Reon. But to do something against Johnny-san is the one thing anyone can hardly do. If you want something to happen, you talk to him yourself." The older one snapped and glared at his younger brother. Yes, it was no use to complain. The decision has been done and there was nothing he could do anymore. Reon looked away and started walking. The older brother looked up and saw him.
No words were exchanged. He simply nodded and they walked away from each other. He didn't know what to do, what to say. He couldn't just say "sorry". He couldn't say, "I'll make it up to you" either. It was awkward to face him now after working with him for six years. Was their bond that easy to break...?

"What do you mean he left?!" Reon cried at his brother. Shoon could do nothing but stand there, listening to each cry. News just spread that Ayukawa Taiyo has left the agency. No one knew when this happened, they just found out he wasn't attending taping for Shounen Club anymore. Two weeks right after Hey!Say!JUMP's debut single release, the youngest boy in Ya-ya-yah never even said goodbye. Reon started crying. He crouched down, hugging his legs and refused to show his face to his elder brother.
Shoon leaned onto the younger Yamashita and held him close. "It was his choice, Reon. You'll probably still see him in school, but not more than that. Don't ask for any explanations because I can't give you any. Cry if you want to... there's no reason to hide them." He whispered. They stayed like that for a few moments until someone opened the door.
Yabu opened the door and walked inside quickly, not even thinking that there were already people inside. He wanted peace and quiet and this might have been the only place he could get them. But as he did open the door, he saw the two Yamashita brothers huddled up in the middle of the room, crouched on the floor. He would have asked, but when he heard the younger boy's sob, he decided against it. The former Ya-ya-yah leader looked away for a moment before he slowly closed the door.
The older Yamashita looked up and narrowed his eyes. They had to talk somehow... He knew what the other boy was thinking and he knew it wasn't easy for him. Yabu might not know, but there's a troubled look written all over his face and Shoon could read it. Something was bothering him andhe had to know.
The date was December 1, 2007.
It took him weeks to get an appointment (the boy was clearly really busy and at least he wasn't told to get a number) but finally he would be able to talk to him. And now that they were face to face... he doesn't know what to say anymore.
Yabu looked at the older boy. he wanted to talk and now he wasn't saying anything. Sure, he wanted to talk to the older boy as well, but what could he say? He imagined himself opening his mouth, but then the wrong words might come out. He definitely didn't want to make a fool out of himself. But it was either that or not being able to say anything at all. So he chose that.
"Are you going to watch?" And he mentally kicked himself. Of course he was going to watch. Shoon looked at the taller boy, smiled sadly and shook his head. "Of course I'm going to watch. I'm actually going to be in it." Shoon replied mockingly. Though the younger of the two started it, it didn't seem to lighten his mood. The eldest member of Ya-ya-yah walked closer.
"Remove that knot on your forehead. You look older than you already are." Shoon said, holding Yabu's forehead. The younger boy looked away. He was even contemplating if he should leave already. Shoon's eyes narrowed and his eyebrows furrowed. "Look at me." He said.
Reluctantly, Yabu looked at him and sighed. "I... It's just that... I've wanted this ever since... since I realized how much I loved to perform." Shoon wrapped his arms around Yabu's neck and kissed him on the lips. It was soft, and reassuring.
"Yabu..." Shoon whispered. "Right now, there is nothing we can do about your debut and Ya-ya-yah being gone forever. It's already happened. Either you sulk in it or look forward to a new beginning. I know it's hard, but you've at least have to try."
"But, you..."
"I'll be here to support you all the way. Reon's still here, so I'll also look after him. You don't have to worry about anything. Just do what you can and be your best. You do know why you're in Hey!Say!BEST, right?" Shoon smiled and Yabu chuckled. "Smile. This will pass." One small peck on the nose and Shoon hugged him, burying his face into Yabu's hair. Yabu wrapped his arms around Shoon's waist and pulled the boy closer.
"Yabu, two minutes."
