Last First Place… [Chapter 1]
The opulent ballroom casted with marble flooring was amazingly large. In the middle of the ballroom was a crystal chandelier made from France and brought all the way here for this special occasion.
Little Kibum was being invited to this white tie event, he was all dressed up in a black tailcoat, black trousers with a single stripe of satin, a white stiff-winged collar and a pair of patent leather shoes. It made him look absolutely stunning especially with that soft and straight black hair that made him looked, well, for a child at 4, good looking.
But in Little Kibum’s defense, it was the most uncomfortable clothing he has ever worn in his 4 years of life. Little Kibum has no idea what is in store for him, all these fancy clothing and decorations which are normally found in a ball where man bring their partner along and have their business reached a consensus with other companies and children, weren’t exactly seen in this kind of places.
However, this ball holds a different significance; this ball is going to be the place where Little Kibum and Little Jinki’s parents decide for Kibum and Jinki that they are going to spend the rest of their life together.
Their lifetime happiness was all risk because of one contract deal, where both the companies would join forces and get rid of their competitors. Little did Kibum’s family know that the Lee’s planned much more than just having a business deal with the Kim’s.
All Little Kibum could remember about that ball was a little boy who looked just a little older than him that led him back to his mother when he was lost outside the ballroom in the porch following a snail. [A/N: come on our diva like to collect snails] and a simple sliver ring that was hung around his neck, given to him by his mother at least Kibum thinks it’s given from his mother…
Years Later…
Kibum never really wondered what the ring was for he always thought it was a gift from his mother so he cherished it well but the one fine day after school, a car stopped in front of his school and a lady in her mid-twenties [?] escorted Kibum into the car and Kibum was drove off to this really grand mansion. If she is here to kidnap me, I wouldn’t mind getting kidnap I mean seriously, this place is twice as big as my house! For a house to be twice as big as Kibum’s is really something cause Kibum’s house is already quite big itself.
Kibum was then escorted into the house by a butler and the inside of the house is just like a maze if you don’t have a map, you’ll probably get lost. I mean sure Kibum is rich and everything but never had he been in a mansion this exquisite.
On the living room, at least Kibum think it’s a living room, sat his mother, a lady around her mid-forties and a young man. Seriously, first I get kidnapped and now I’m facing a middle age woman that is dressed in those outrageous clothing that is so 1800s? Do people even make any more of that outfits?
Although Kibum was internally complaining about her clothes, the young man did catch his attention. A fine looking man with chubby cheeks and eyes that would disappear when he smile overall, adorable! Okay…that guy is cute but whats with the fake smile, I don’t even know him yet…
“Kibum, stop staring, staring is not what a fine young man should be doing.” Kibum’s mother said as she signaled Kibum to come and sit beside her.
When Kibum sat down and her mother start explaining that this fine young man here is his groom-to-be and that the ring around his neck has been an engagement ring, Kibum nearly had the shock of his life! I mean, you are going home from school and all of a sudden, you get kidnapped, your own mother tells you that you are actually engaged because of a business alliance? Kibum was trying to control himself from cussing and well, you don’t want to know what he’s thinking…
“Jinki, why don’t you bring Kibum around while Mrs. Kim and I discuss about your wedding.” When it came from her, it sounded more like a command than a question.
Kibum wanted to protest but his mother shot him a death glare and Kibum being the obedient son, didn’t want to put his life at stake so he just obeyed.
In a swift motion, Jinki dragged Kibum out of the room and into the garden outside the mansion. [A/N let’s forget abt his sangtae for a while k?] The garden was equally exquisite the bushes of roses were carefully trim so was the grass. The fountain’s water was so crystal clear; you could see your reflection in it. Jinki let go of Kibum’s hand the moment they were outside and there was an awkward silence between them until Kibum decided to break the silence.
“Care to explain why you agreed on this engagement?”
“…I knew this since I was young that I was engaged to someone so when the time comes, I didn’t ask much but I didn’t expect that someone to be someone likes you…”
“What’s wrong with me?” Kibum said he was clearly pissed off.
“Well, from the moment I see you until now, unsophisticated…ill mannered…rough and of course, pathetic…”
Jinki move closer to Kibum. Kibum kept on backing until the fountain was right behind him and Jinki continue to move closer, Kibum was practically holding the fountain’s side for support. Finally, they were so closed that if Kibum tilt his head a little, their lips would meet.
“Judging from the condition u kept the ring, are you really desperate to get married?”
Jinki was leaning ON Kibum and Kibum could feel the weight on him. He desperately wants to get off. Using his flexes, the swiftly glides off [A/N all those girl group dances paid off eh?] and his sudden movement caused Jinki to lose his balance and well, trip over his own weight which caused him to plunge into the fountain… [A/N yay! Onew sangtae!].
Kibum was laughing his ass off at this scene.
“I apologize for being unsophisticated but that doesn’t mean I have to deal with a bastard like you. And for*snaps* your*snaps*infor*snaps*mation*snaps* I didn’t expect my other half to be as clumsy as you are.” clear sarcasm could be heard from his voice. Well, that’s what you get for messing with the diva…
The day before the wedding, Jinki meet Kibum up in private and had a contract signed. The contract clearly stated that Kibum was NOT allowed to fall in love with Jinki and that their marriage would end after a year because it was about the right amount of time couples would start to fight and incompatibility in character. Kibum sign it without even considering and Jinki felt his heart sank a little though he kept on denying it and think it was because of the unsuccessful in pissing Kibum off…
On the wedding day itself, Kibum was stuck wearing a wedding dress…so much for getting revenge at the fountain. The wedding was held in private, in other words, other than family member and friends, no business associates were invited.
Kibum was kind of glad about that at least he didn’t have to make a fool out of himself wearing a dress in front of his classmates. But Jonghyun, Kibum’s all time best pal, was having a great time laughing hard at Kibum which kind of pissed him off. Taemin on another hand was trying to control his laughter, biting his lower lips real hard, he thinks it’s bleeding…
Kibum has to admit although it’s weird wearing a wedding DRESS when he is clearly a man, the wedding dress look awfully beautiful. A thousand crystals was studded onto the dress making it freaking heavy but like what Kibum always says, beautiful comes with a price, and he doesn’t mind paying this price. And even though no one complimented him yet, he knows he looks beautiful. [A/N our diva likes to self-compliment to boost a little confidence (?)]
When Kibum was walking down the aisle, he could feel himself being stared and he could still hear Jjong’s laughter which kind of creep him out… When he was in front of Jinki, he unveiled the ‘bride’ and god did he look stunning! The eyeliner complimented his eyes so well, the hair, although it was fake, gave him a shy and untouchable look, the make-up wasn’t too thick just thick enough to cover up zits but thin enough to see his true beauty.
And Kibum have to admit, Jinki looks pretty smart for someone who is trips over his own feet, have chubby cheeks, totally stuck-up and someone who like to insult. God, Kibum’s shy smile practically made Jinki’s heart melt like cheese. He has to confess, Kibum is quite a beauty for a guy.
After exchanging of rings, the wedding ceremony ended with a kiss on the Kibum’s cheeks. Although Kibum felt much reluctance on Jinki’s part, for just a tad second there, Kibum felt blessed. Maybe this marriage wouldn’t turn out to be that bad? At least that’s what Kibum thinks…
