( The world has always made Taemin anxious. Even as children his brother Minho understood this & Taemin relied on his acting as a buffer between it & himself. However, when they are teenagers Minho abruptly leaves & Taemin finds himself alone, resentful. Then one day he meets a boy who changes the way he looks at himself, who makes him feel loved, to feel safe, & they begin to build a life together. Years after they last spoke, Taemin travels alone to visit Minho to tell him about it. )

I've cried time and time again while reading this. Taemin's hopes and fears are so well written, resonating loudly despite the otherwise quiet nature of the story(the ghost towns, the isolation from the rest of the world.) I loved the little incorporated canon moments, like Gwiboon being a theatre actress, that classic picture of Taemin and Minho during Dream Team, the little Ondrew cameo and going full circle by Taemin becoming Lee Taemin. Another favorite thing that I loved was the Onkai, my all time favorite rare pair and their little Taeyeon. It was just perfect. I really don't have words for how deeply this touched me. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I absolutely adore OnKai & put them in virtually everything I write (if OnTae isn't the main pair); it's so nice to "meet" someone who likes them as well.
I'm so pleased you caught the referenced picture, I hoped to do it justice & it really felt like the best image to capture how happy & safe Taemin felt with Minho.
Keeping characters as canon as possible was really important to me because I wanted them to feel familiar to the reader & because it makes it easier for me to figure out what they might or might not do.

Okay so i really really really like how Jinki was Taemins safe place, but in the end he was able to face Minhos death and grave alone. He relied on Jinki but it wasnt mmm how to put it... it wasnt like Jinki was doing what he was out of pity for a lack of a better word. Their relationship was warm and Jinki learned what Taemin needed in the same way Taemin was learning too. Its just a very good fic! I cried when they had their fight but the way they made up was very realistic. And how they approached getting professional help. It was sensitive and thought out and 💕💕

And you're right, Jinki never pities Taemin. He's sad that Taemin is sad, but he's with him because he loves him. Nothing's perfect, hence the fight, but they're friends & they'll make it work.

I don't even know where to start.
When I was reading the first chapter I kept wondering why Minho wouldn't go to Taemin since Taemin was so obviously scared to head out to him. I didn't expect that Minho was dead. I love the way you wrote the characters and their personalities and it's an added bonus for me that you made Taemin a demisexual.
When Taemin and Jinki got into an argument and Jinki started berating himself for being a terrible boyfriend, I honest to god cried but it's all good cos I'm an angst junkie.
I love that the entire story was just the telling of taemin's everyday life but it was done so well that I still get hooked on to it.

I had hoped that the "big reveal" would be a surprise & I'm glad to hear it worked.
Ah yes, Taemin's sexuality. A certain aspect of his anxiety as a teenager was increased by having just another box he didn't fit in. Jinki doesn't "fix" him, he just happens to be a boy Taemin falls in love with.

this was so lovely and so sad. i believe this is the first SBB fic for this year that made me cry. multiple times might i add! taemin and jinki's relationship was just beautifully written. i could feel the anxiety that taemin felt bottle up in my chest and burst out when gwiboon finds him and he finally confesses to jinki. i love how even though taemin doesn't accept himself, he has people around him that love him and do it for him until he finally begins that journey to self discovery. i loved the random little details of the kinky sex taemin wanted, of the onkai and possible three way, of ondrew. i loved trying to guess exactly what was happening when taemin visited his favorite places, because they were his and minho's - the handprints at the library! the pavillion! i loved jungboon being on and off again. i loved that taemin said that he was visiting minho and that it was one of those things that came out of the blue but that i also should have seen coming. i love that jinki's mom was able to give him all of the love that he ( ... )

This fic was so bittersweet and moved me several times reading it. I was so proud of Taemin throughout the whole thing. He grew and faced so much. He admitted when he needed help and was able to face Minho's death and finally go see him. Great story! Thank you for writing it!
