It was going slow but at least it was starting to actually go now. I'd been to audition after audition and while I'd had a few bites, the plays weren't exactly the best for furthering a career in acting. Still, it was a job. The most recent one I'd landed seemed to actually be not so bad. It wasn't mainstream of course, but I'd recognized several of the names that were involved and they all had good reputations. It was a historical piece and so far had been lots of fun to be involved with and the cast was well cast.
The show opened in less than a week and we were running late night rehearsals. Some nights were later than others and I felt bad for staying so late, but Harry didn't seem to mind since he was always busy studying for classes. It was a good thing too because tonight we were running later than usual and Harry had told me he would be studying for a test he had later in the week. For as much studying as the guy does, you'd think he would be getting straight A's in every single class, but apparently not. I hadn't mentioned anything to him yet, but according to something he'd said to Bruce in the journal, he was on academnic probation. He wasn't a Peter Parker, none of us were, but Harry wasn't a dunce either.
Finally, around ten we were finishing up and I was more than ready to get home. I wanted to take a hot shower and crawl into bed under the warm covers and drift off to sleep hopefully with my husband who was back from achieving academnic excellence.
Tugging my coat around me at the waist, I left the building and started towards the subway station that was a few blocks from the theatre. I could hear voices behind me as soon as I walked outside, but ducked my head a bit and kept on walking. The area of town was hardly crowded, so I sped up my pace to get to the station faster only to hear the voices replaced with whispers and hurried footsteps behind me. Glancing over my shouder quickly, my eyes widened at the two pretty huge guys behind me. I'd caught a look on one of their faces and immediately I started hurrying even more.
I turned a corner hoping to see the subway, but frowned and nearly stopped short when I realized I'd turned too quickly. This definitely wasn't the way back.
Spinning around, I started to reach into my purse for my phone but froze when I the two guys turning the corner in front of me. I was starting to get blocked in and there was no way I was going to be able to get past them to get back on the right street. One of them smiled at me and I took a step backwards slowly, glancing behind me and trying to figure out my next move.
"Hey, don't be like that. We just wanted to say hi," the guy who smiled said and took another step or two towards me. Immeidately, I backed up and then started running in the opposite direction, praying that there was a way to circle back around and end up either at the theatre or the right street. One of them laughed and I heard heavier footsteps this time as they ran behind me.
"Help!" I screamed, clutching my bag and tried to reach in for my phone again but couldn't get a hold to it for all the other stuff that was in the dumb bag. When I finally got my fingers wrapped around it, I tried to dial but my hands were shaking and suddenly I tripped and fell to the ground. Crying out again, I scrambled back up to my feet but they were way too close now. Just after a couple seconds of running, I felt a hand jerk me back and I was back against the brick wall with two sets of eyes staring at me. "Please, don't do this," I practically begged and pressed myself back into the wall more when he just smirked at me again.
