As you all know, I had my right thyroid taken out a few weeks ago. Went for my follow-up appointment this morning and was hit by news I totally wasn't expecting. The pathology came back positive for papillary cancer. Cancer. HOLY SHIT I HAVE CANCER

Holy shit. So sorry to hear that Amy. Let us know any way we can help you get through this a little easier (though you'll have to look to someone other than me for good gay porn stash). In encouraging, think good thoughts despite being totally freaked news, my Uncle John had the radioiodide thyroid cancer treatment when I was very little and now I'm an old 40s chick and he's still kicking it in his 80s. And the levothyroxin replacement is super-cheap so you won't have to waste much money on un-fun stuff.

I've been hearing many similar stories which is definitely helping. Just filled in my prescription the other day. My insurance covers most of it so I ended up paying like $2.30 but even without insurance, it is still pretty cheap so thank goodness I don't have to give up important stuff like airfare for celebrity stalking & designer bags ;)

Oh fuck. I'm so sorry to hear this but remember that cancer isn't the end of the world any more and you are getting the treatment you need now. I will keep you in my thoughts. Remember to ask for and accept help and support because it will help you get through this.
