I feel the need to rant about this. Watermarks. Fucking annoying, image-destroying watermarks. Why the fuck are you even bothering to upload an image online if you're so terrified that someone will steal it that you feel the need to cover the entire center of the image with a giant fucking watermark that makes it, at the very least, irritating to

I can see watermarks for specific production pieces that are being sold, but for pieces you just want to show off? A simple copyright or signature in the image is fine (Some artists will blend it in the background, making it hard to remove by art theives)
Now the crazy ones are the people that put watermarks on everything (even simple pen sketches) and that annoys even *ME*.

I've rarely used watermarks myself. For artwork I intend to sell I'd upload lower resolution images or cropped images so that those purchasing the piece get much more than what others see online. And yeah, if you got art you don't want people to pass around, just don't upload it.

Art thieves: Ruining it for everybody.

No, really, there are whole communities based around this kind of thing. Fucking HOT TOPIC regularly steals artwork [even fan artwork] and sticks it on shirts they sell. If it's a knee-jerk reaction to a valid concern--why is someone else making money off my stuff and not me?--then it seems like making it more difficult for others to just yoink a piece is an acceptable concession.

Incidentally, the link as is doesn't go anywhere, and I couldn't see anything just at guidoarts.deviantart.com that resembled what you were talking about. [Then again, I hate dA as it is so I'm not inclined to look very far.]
