More letter meme-age. So leave a comment, I'll give you a letter and give me ten things that begin with said letter that are EXTREMELY awesome or just regular awesome. It's a bit lengthy, so it is in cut form.
Maria gave me K and Jeff gave me A

So here goes
1. Aircraft Carriers- What better weapon than a floating island that can house planes and launch them at targets?
Kabuto- Japanese Samurai Helmets are the most awesome looking things. Some look like interesting party hats with horns.

2. Ankylosaurus- Turtle+Spikes+ Armadillo= Awesome ass dinosaur. I always considered it something that they should have had in that lame ass show Zoids. Actually, there were model kits by TOMY that allowed you to make Zoids and were twenty times cooler than that show.
Kangaroos- Not just because Ryohei has one, but because they can be bad ass and deliver an ass kicking like roo for example in Tekken, which Mangaroo is a clone of I'm sure. Also, I'm a fan of the pouch. If I was a kangaroo, that thing would have many uses, but I would like it to be more of the bottomless, magic bag kind of pouch, a la Felix the Cat.

3. Army- since my dad was in the Army, I have an interest in military stuff. I'd serve if my draft card came up, though being 27 I don't think that I'd have to. I've considered it at one point and wonder how I would be as an officer in the Army. This would also be cool, since I wouldn't have any trouble cosplaying as Snake or any other military figure, like Colonello. I wonder if the munitions officer would allow me to tote an old russian anti-tank rifle around?
K- Kentucky- A lot of good things are in kentucky. It's the home of KFC, Louisville Sluggers, the Kentucky Wildcats, the Kentucky Derby and also Fort Knox. But it also was my first taste of what America was like, I think I was four or five when I went there with my dad and it was a warm and inviting place. Kentuckians are fine people, very kind and friendly. I remember meeting an old colonel name Colonel Taylor and he took me for a ride on his lawn tractor, there's a picture somewhere around the house. I just remember how hospitable Colonel Taylor and his wife were, serving as a testimate to Kentucky's charm.

4. A- Amuro Ray- The first gundam pilot. I liked that throughout the whole Gundam saga from 0079 to Char's Counterattack, we see the growth of Amuro. It kind of reminded me of the Wonder Years, where you see a kid grow into a man and overcoming the challenges of that transition. The only thing about Amuro is that he's too aloof and very often cold, but then again most main character gundam pilots are like that. The angst factor isn't exactly at the Shinji Ikari level, but it's significant enough to be quite annoying.
K- Kenshin- Oh Kenshin. Probably one of my favorite characters in anime. First, he's bad-ass. Pick any of the many techniques in Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu that he has and he has an answer to any combat situation. I'm more of a fan of the Manga because it's...I dunno...COMPLETE??? And all his fights are definate page turners and it shows his very carnal nature. Second, he wants to live in peace and does all he can to suppress his Hitokiri Battosai past, seeking to live a life away from the killing of the Warring States. Third, he has a great personality, he can be silly, but generally has a quiet way about him that is almost zen like.

5. Anime- Where would I be without it? Probably a lot more douchebagish. It was through anime that I met most of my friends from college. It went from just a bunch of college kids just sitting around watching some foreign cartoons, to a core set of people who have helped me endure the hardest of days. As a focal point of interest, it is well varied, it has good elements and bad elements. There are things there that bring up the strength of the human spirit, but also it's darker and more sadistic side. There is a greater deal of emotion in comparison to animated features from the West, it is also more artistic with a greater attention to detail.
Karaoke- the thing about Karaoke that I like is that you get a moment to sing as best or as worst as you can and people will still applaud. There is also that nostalgia factor where someone will sing a song and you'll say "wow, I haven't heard that song since..." Whether it's in a bar setting like Keats or Cafe Nani or a room setting like Tinga Tinga or Duet, it's just a great opportunity to have a drink with friends and watch them either make asses of themselves or see a skill that is inspiring and admirable

6. Akira- one of the first Anime movies I've watched. To this day it is still the mind fuckery that it always is. My most memorable thing about Akira was that it was what we swore new members on during inaugural anime club meetings. I also used a couple of images for some of my Computer Graphics projects.
Kimba the White Lion- I have to give this a mention since the Lion King was a complete rip off of it. I've actually never seen it and whenever its showing at a convention something comes up.

7. Arcades- Where have all the arcades gone? I remember seeing bigger arcades like Dave and Buster's everywhere, but I guess with the internet and higher end gaming consoles, the arcades are dying if not dead. Thankfully there are still a few still going and Dave and Busters definately keeps the Arcade feeling alive. I still wish though that they still cost only a quarter to play.
Kitchens- Kitchens are cool because that's where food is made. Actually, kitchens are cool because of all the things you can learn. I remember when I was seven, my grandmother taught me basic cooking skills and later on my mother did the same. When I lived in Portchester, I liked the few rare moments where I would actually cook something. Also the Kitchen is where everyone gathers at our house. My mother gets annoyed when we're all standing around the kitchen when there are perfectly comfy looking couches in the living room. I guess it is the heart of the home and that's where people like to congregate...plus you're close to all the booze and the food.

8. America- You know, despite having it's priorities mixed up, being in a recession, lacking jobs, fighting wars that cost a lot and are hard to understand, America is still awesome. I don't mean to sound like a SUPER PATRIOT, but America is a great place. True, we have problems, LOTS of problems, but we still continue to live our day to day and face challenges and are alive to meet new ones the next day. I think that we just need to keep our heads up and I don't want to say that oh everything will be ok, because a lot of times it wont be. But what we have to be thankful for is that we live in a country where we can forge our own destinies and stick it to those that say otherwise and want to make us believe that impossible is an actual word.
Kazakhstan- I'm not putting this here because of Borat. It just sounds cool.

9. Anderson, Wes- I like his movies in the following order Rushmore, Royal Tennenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Unlimited, Bottle Rocket. Anderson's movies have a snarky, witty humor, and give an interesting and artistic view in the lives of very compelling characters. The other thing I like is that I can watch his movies over and over again and not really get tired of it.
Kubrick, Stanley- My knowledge of Kubrick comes primarily from Spartacus, The Shining, Days of Glory and Full Metal Jacket. Full Metal Jackey was one of the first American movies I remember seeing, the (SPOILER ALERT) part where Private Pyle shoots himself is something I remember vividly. He is quite the storyteller and also creative in his cinematography.

10- A- Abraham Lincoln- the great emancipator, the rail splitter, the really tall bearded one, the president raised in a log cabin, whichever the memory about Lincoln, most consider him a president who was faced with so many challenges and sought to keep the states united. I remmber winning a contest in high school from the American Foreign Legion and had to recite the Gettysburg address and to this day the words still resound with an inspiring flourish and reminds you of the precious liberty that we often take for granted. (Note: yes, this should really be filed under "L" but are we really nitpicking here? I would have chosen John Adams, but I don't remember much about him, any of you history majors have any recomendations of books to read?)
K- Kennedy, John F.- I asked my folks where they were when Kennedy was shot and unfortunately they were too young to remember, but they remember it being a very sad day. America loved this president, just off the top of my head, I remember learning that Kennedy was a war hero, was very involved in foreign policy, had to deal with the shadows of communisim and Vietnam on the horizon, he had relations with Marilyn Monroe, had a lovely wife with Jackie O and he was an advocate and a fighter for civil rights. I checked Wikipedia and I had forgotten that it was he and Robert Kennedy who were able to get Martin Luther King out of prison and proposed what would be the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Both my entries for these two letters reminded me how both were strong believers in the rights of others and I am sure that it was this dedication to the preservation of rights for every person which led to their assasinations. It always makes me question at times why in the core nature of humanity we have the thoughts of superiority and inferiority tied to a difference in creed, religion, race or nationality. There are heirarchies in nature, there are weak and there are strong and it bothers me that there still exists those who look at what a person is on the outside rather than judge them by the content of their character. Humanity is weird.
