January 28 Author Spotlight: badwolf_x @ mushroomvillage
“ Minho forgets about him once exams start. In this life story, they never meet again. ”
badwolf_x, writing at mushroomvillage has a great collection of shorter drabbles and a few longer pieces that are best described in colloquial speech as 'qt!'. Sometimes the ideas are fresh and just a little off the wall, and overall her fics are immensely entertaining and always pleasantly executed. Their first real interaction began stilted and awkward. Taemin, of course, expected this: Jinki was older than him, four years older, friendly and smiley, with a quiet sort of confidence about him; the kind of confidence that came with previous training despite being new to the company. Taemin's voice was still cracking and he was nervous, always nervous, even if he'd already been with SME for a year.

Sometime between rush hour and the few minutes just before the sun dips below the horizon, there sits a boy on a stool by the large window in the small but chic and impersonal cafe Minho passes every day on his way home from school.

The morning of Jinki’s disappearance is disturbingly normal. Jonghyun doesn’t even realize he’s missing until they’re in the van, an hour away from the dorm. At first, Jonghyun thinks that maybe he’s forgotten about a last-minute schedule change-- it wouldn’t be the first time-- but as he racks his brain, nothing comes up. He glances to his left, but Taemin is asleep, slumped in the seat and breathing softly. In front of them, Minho has his earbuds in, deaf to the world around him and Kibum has his head leaned against the window, eyes half lidded with that contemplative look on his face. Jonghyun lifts a hand, hesitates, then puts it back down.

"I'm," Taemin starts, then pauses with a tilted head and pursed lips. Justin has to hold in a grin, because who does that? If Selena was with him, she'd definitely be cooing right now. "Um, I'm a... very-" Taemin carefully enunciates the 'r,' "-big fan!"
