Ummm. Technically it's almost April, but we'd like to dedicate the lovely month of March to .... DUN DUN DUN

March 30th Author Spotlight: pateshie

“ The sweat is making his t-shirt stick to him and he tastes dust when he licks his lips and it’s nothing like dancing in a studio. It’s raw and remorseless, and any step he takes can erect a stage. This is the street. He feels like he could cartwheel circles around this town, there’s just so much energy in the air when these five people surround him. ”

Everything that pateshie writes is so captivating, spanning through various genres that are all equally enticing. There's always an edge to every story, painted so vividly- from Taemin's suffocating loneliness in 0 to the tightness in Jonghyun's heart in untitled. Anyways, I absolutely recommend everything, but some of my favorites include...

ontokki / jongyu

Monday comes and goes and Jinki is still intact. Well, bunny-Jinki is still intact. However he was more like regular Jinki now, and even his new limbs were active participants in his sangtae. Jonghyun stumbled into the kitchen to find Kibum and Taemin in hysterics as Jinki pretended to pick his nose with one of the ears. His control over them has grown and it’s comforting and discomforting all at once. Jonghyun didn’t like seeing Jinki miserable and repulsed by his own self, avoiding any surface with even a sliver of reflection. But now there was this Jinki who was making his tail dance to the latest girl group hits and using his ears to caress Kibum’s cheeks every time the younger catered to his carrot cravings.

come on home and turn me on / jongho

He catches them kissing on the doorstop, her tiny fingers on his bare arms. Their lips part slow and soft under the corridor light. When she crosses him, she bows and he bends his tired back in reply. Jonghyun holds the door open for him, lips refusing to purse. He’s still smiling when Minho looks up from the shoe rack.

“That good?” Minho asks. He wants to know.

“There’s only now,” Jonghyun responds after some thought. Minho watches his unsteady back disappearing down the hallway. He wants to, he thinks, to seize the moment and kiss it senseless.

0 / taekey

Taemin finds himself at the school’s abandoned basketball court on the next few afternoons, lurking in the shadows of the main building and watching these kids sweat it out. They dance religiously between three to five, until the sun licks the horizon before plunging into it. The girl with the blonde bob is in sweats on his fourth day of watching and she finally takes the court. She raps along to the music in a nasal tone while her feet hit the counts. Taemin thinks she doesn’t have the power of Ri and there’s some of Key in the way she dances.

Taemin has only seen Key dance once, two days ago, but it has been enough for him to tell Key is the best in this little group. His movements are sharp, almost unforgiving, and his choreography sensual. There’s a lilt to everything he does on the court which contrasts with how masculine he is when he isn’t dancing. It’s captivating.

love like oxygen / onho

Something hot and moist keeps returning to settle on his mouth over and over again. He can feel water sloshing everywhere, streaming off him onto the sand and the person above him is relentless. It seems to be working though, past the distant murmuring all around him he slowly feels his limbs warm over and the fog lifts a little. Something solid lands on his chest and presses fiercely, twice, thrice until his throat erupts open, water spilling past his lips in violent coughs.
