D.Gray Man: Special Arrangement (Kanda Yuu x Allen Walker)
- With mentioned Marie/Miranda and Tyki/Lavi :D This was supposed to be just a 300-word thing smut, but it suddenly grew >__>;; 1993 words.
Kanda is a person who takes his job seriously. He doesn't like protecting civilians, as well as receiving thanks and praises for his job. He doesn't like being given new medals for a job well done on the dirtier work that happens under the cloak of shadows and beneath the higher-ups' fingertips. But, it is something he is good at -exceptionally good- and it is the only thing that he can see himself doing.
He hates incompetence-especially if it's those useless morons who think that they're goddamn powerful just by possessing the badge and receiving clearance to use their weapons.
Moreover, it's because of said inept idiots that their raid is a bust. The intelligence was wrong and this particular mafia family has a strength that could easily overpower theirs.
Kanda Yuu pocketed his communicator when all he heard was static. It seemed that he was too far away from the others, separated by the bomb that exploded just as soon as they entered the front door of the supposed headquarters.
There was a slight sound-Kanda's Mugen was out in less than a heartbeat, his preferred weapon gleaming dully under the pale moonlight that entered the shattered windows. There was no sound of glass crunching down beneath Kanda's footsteps; there was no sound of labored breathing coming from Kanda's lungs.
There was another sound-Kanda wondered if the person was even trying to mask his presence. It made him feel one-part relieved and nine-parts insulted.
"Who's there?" Kanda's gruff voice called out, fingers gripping his sword tight, inching for a fight because he is not like those losers who are taken out in just one flashy explosion.
A voice replied, and it was nothing like Kanda expected. "Well, this should be interesting." Boyish, soft and friendly-it was something that Kanda would associate with innocent boys in the neighborhood, not with well-known drug traffickers and tyrants of the underground gambling world.
"Pleased to meet you, Kanda Yuu, squad leader of the Dark Order," The young man stepped out of the shadows and Kanda snorted because a youthful face and a small body greeted him.
"Figures that I'd get a beansprout," Kanda commented with a smirk, hands ready to strike at any moment.
"B-beansprout?!"
*
Kanda went out of the police headquarters with a slight nod of his head towards the surprised receptionist. Everyone involved in that failed operation are currently recuperating in a nearby hospital, but Kanda's almost-inhuman healing rate made him an exception.
Still, Komui told him to go home and rest, but Kanda wouldn't be doing that, because the memory of that stalemate with that old-man-hair beansprout bruised his ego in a way he would never admit out loud. He may be a member of the special task force of the police, but he's a swordsman first, and fighting with a mafia member using his fists and his body and not his sword was something that irritated him.
Of course, life would always throw irritating things at him, such as the very familiar mop of white hair seated on his welcome mat.
"What the fuck are you doing here, idiot?"
The hunched figure opened one sleepy eye and yawned. Kanda felt his eyebrow twitch. Nobody dared to yawn at Kanda. The sight of that irksome mafia made Kanda wish for his Mugen, but Komui was still repairing it and damn, Kanda wanted to wring that scrawny neck. "I can't believe you didn't go to the hospital."
Kanda didn't waste words on things such as 'How did you know?', or 'Why are you following me?'. Instead, he settled for a derisive glare and a "Stop stalking me, beansprout."
The policeman not-so-subtly kicked his unwelcome visitor, his hands already twisting his keys and opening the door. "It's Allen, you retard," Allen Walker whined, before slipping inside Kanda's apartment even before the owner could bang the door on his face.
"As if I care," Kanda snorted, feeling the weight of his gun against his pockets, feeling the incomprehensible stare Allen gave to his back, feeling the irritation at not winning against the fight.
"Let's spar," Allen suggested after getting bored of watching Kanda -washing dishes, drinking water, folding clothes- do things that looked painfully normal for someone as strong and feared as Kanda.
Kanda's only answer was a feral grin.
*
It became a strange arrangement between the two of them.
Kanda would come home from work or from a grueling mission, and Allen would be seated at his welcome mat, half-sleeping and always waiting for him. Then, Kanda would kick him, insult him, and threaten to cut off his annoying head, but would end up letting the other slip past the closing door.
Sometimes, Allen would bring food-lots of food, from different restaurants, ranging from Italian to French to Indian to Korean, but it would always include his favorite tempura soba. Sometimes, Allen would convince him to play cards, but after one game, Kanda would ask him to stop because it was an unsettling reminder of what Allen is a part of. Sometimes, Allen would stay until midnight, silver eyes wide open as though he was trying to absorb everything that Kanda is doing. Sometimes, Kanda would forget and call that brat 'Allen' outside of his thoughts.
They still sparred, because Kanda still needed to quell the urgings inside of him -asking with suspicious voices and haughty sneers- asking as to why he always allows his enemy inside his home. Allen has been to his apartment more times than the times Komui, Marie and Lenalee asked to be let inside only to end up being rejected.
Kanda didn't know how much time has passed with things staying like that, like he didn't know how many months has passed since he last cut his hair, like he didn't know how long as it been since his partner Marie has been with the receptionist Miranda.
That arrangement came crashing down when Kanda and the rest of Team Exorcist has been called by their Head Supervisor for a mission briefing. It would be an infiltration mission to the underground casino that the Noah Family is supporting. Noah Family. Allen Walker.
Marie raised a questioning eyebrow at him, but he ignored it, in favor of focusing on keeping his breathing still, on stopping his hands from shaking, on memorizing the mission details.
*
Kanda led Squad Gamma to their rendezvous point. He was supposed to go inside as a gambler, and then he would take out the Noah Family's leader. His squad members would be the one to handle the security from their area; Marie and the others were assigned to the other top brass in the mafia's ranks.
The 'Leader', their information said, always made it a point to talk to the gamblers, indulge in a few games, but would always retire to his makeshift throne, always unattended by bodyguards. It reeked of carelessness, cockiness and naïveté, but their intelligence is certified this time. Kanda always regarded Lavi as an annoying idiot, but his information-gathering skills are certainly top-class.
Kanda remembered asking Lavi how did he manage to get that kind of information, but the redhead only grinned cheerfully and mysteriously said, 'sleeping with the enemy gives you loads of advantages'. Kanda didn't really believe him as Lavi constantly lied, but then, he didn't really care about how the data was gathered. As long as it gave him enough information as to how to execute the plan, he would accept it.
He was supposed to sneak behind the throne and quickly kill the Leader wearing that shiny silver-mask and fluffy white coat.
Kanda made his footsteps as silent as possible, his face schooled into an unreadable façade. Ten more seconds before Daisya would turn off the power supply and engulf this underground casino into complete darkness. Ten more seconds before Kanda swiftly dealt with this thorn to the police's actions.
Even before the panicked screams resounded in the air, even before the sounds of gunshots rang like mad bells, even before the darkness fell completely in front of his eyes, Kanda's gun was already out and his fingers were ready to pull the trigger, but the Leader was ready too, and Kanda's hand was already held in a painful grip.
Kanda pulled his hand away harshly, the gun escaping his from his hold, but he was already drawing out his sword and making a neat slice and taking out a half of that ridiculous-looking coat. His next slice was blocked, but not completely, and he was able to contact that silver mask. The Leader whirled and made a sweeping kick, aiming at Kanda's legs, but Kanda didn't mind, as he was waiting for that opportunity to bring his opponent down and closer to him. He didn't lose his hold on Mugen, but the Leader managed to scramble away from him in a series of fluid movements.
It was on the third swift movement of his sword when Kanda managed to remove the annoying get-up altogether; it was also on that third slice that Kanda felt his heart stopping even though he was the one ready to cut the other's head off.
"Beansprout," Kanda said, and it was all he could say, even as the torrent of fighting went on around them, because Allen-fucking-Walker was there, underneath all that gaudy costumes, underneath that mission duty of Kanda killing the Noah's Leader.
"I'm sorry, Kanda," Allen said, face blank and silver eyes apologetic, and that was all Kanda could see before his vision was clouded with darkness.
*
Kanda walked slowly towards his apartment, his head ringing with the reproaches from the Chief Head of Police, Leverrier. They failed to exterminate the entire Noah Family, failed to capture prisoners, failed to pinpoint their main headquarters' location, and more importantly, the prodigy of the secret task force, Kanda Yuu, failed his mission to kill the Noah Family's Leader.
Furthermore, Lavi was said to have been kidnapped by the mafia -by Tyki Mikk, according to the reports of the few survivors- but Kanda knew that Lavi went there willingly, because he couldn't be captured unless he allowed it. Leverrier was taking over the chain of command starting Monday, and Kanda didn't know if it was worth it to stay with the police. All the people he more-or-less tolerated were either gone or assigned to new departments, and-
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Kanda asked irritably, annoyed at the piles of newspapers and magazines -and damn, were those suitcases?!- piled in front of his front door.
"You know, I was thinking-"
"A miracle, I'm sure," Kanda cut off with a snort, his brain thinking wildly as to why that idiot beansprout is here, damn it, they were enemies, and he was ready to kill him just a week ago, and-
Allen huffed angrily, but it only looked childishly cute and certainly not threatening in any way. "Shut up, jackass. I was thinking, and your apartment is really small, you know? Bare too, and boring, and-"
Kanda was already entering his apartment after successfully sidestepping the piles of junk. He didn't shut the door, but he would be damned before he would help that idiot carry those… things inside his home.
"And Paris sounds lovely, don't you think?"
Allen was looking at him again with those brilliant eyes. Kanda sighed and didn't waste words on 'I haven't even resigned', or 'But you're the Noah Family's Leader', or 'Why are you even bothering with me?'.
Instead, he leveled the still-chattering Allen with a serious stare, "Only if you're paying."
"You bastard," Allen said affectionately, and it almost smothered Kanda, but then Allen cheekily related his next words, which made Kanda only want to smother Allen with a pillow instead.
"Only if you're the lovely housewife."
And it was a start of a new arrangement-only this time, it didn't look like it would end anytime soon.

Gundam 00: Unfit for Stalking (Tieria Erde x Setsuna F. Seiei)
- ...crack-ish? LOL (Poor Setsuna is corrupted by Hallelujah already haha) Slightly humor and retarded because all fics for Gundam00 are angsty :( hmm, please don't hurt me! >.< (485 words)
Lockon told him to not bother. But with their strategist Sumeragi Lee Noriega in the enemy's grasp, they couldn't afford to slack around and wait for her instructions. Hallelujah told him -accompanied with that maniacal laughter- that one of Sumeragi's captors would be present near the national library.
That's why Setsuna continued to trail the feminine-looking mafia member, knowing that it was potentially dangerous, but thinking that it would also be potentially to their favor, if he managed to get more information about Sumeragi's capture.
"Why are you following me?" An irate voice-and it silenced all of Setsuna's curiosity whether he was a really flat woman, or just a very pretty man.
Setsuna kept quiet, hands placed on his belt, ready to draw his gun if needed. He was sure that he has been as inconspicuous as possible.
"You should ditch that awful scarf," The words were a suggestion, but the other man's tone made it seem like an order. Girly-man -at least, that's what he was in Setsuna's thoughts because he didn't have the chance to find out the other's name yet- moved deeper into the alley they were in. Setsuna followed, but he stopped in his tracks when the other whirled around to glare at him.
"You are not fit to stalk me."
Setsuna raised his gun, because, if Girly-man wouldn't allow him to continue his trailing, then he'd have to get to information now. "Where are you hiding Sumeragi Lee Noriega?"
Girly-man raised an elegant eyebrow. He then purposely stalked towards Setsuna and tore his scarf away to get a better look at Setsuna's collarbone. After a moment of inspection, Girly-man let out an unimpressed 'hmm', before moving away from Setsuna.
Hallelujah told him that seducing with the enemy is the perfect way to get information. So, without letting Girly-man move away from him again, Setsuna pulled the other's head down for a clumsy, feverish kiss.
*
"I apologize, for I have sinned," Setsuna said solemnly, and Hallelujah laughed that slightly-creepy laugh again, while Allelujah tried to do silence his twin.
Lockon nervously chuckled, "Oi, oi, this is not a confession booth…"
"But I gained valuable information," Setsuna continued, and the tone was a tad happier. "I now know where is Sumeragi-san being held-"
Lockon patted Setsuna awkwardly on the shoulder, while Allelujah repeatedly whacked Hallelujah while yelling 'this is all your fault!'. "You see, Setsuna, we already know-"
And the door to the meeting room opened, and Girly-man was there, wearing the same uniform as theirs. "What are you doing here-"
Haro simply chirped happily, "Tieria's back! Tieria's back!"
"Tieria Erde? The undercover mafia agent? But Hallelujah said…"
Setsuna suddenly looked like he might faint, face blank but pale, and Lockon gently led him to the couch.
"You really are unfit to stalk me," Tieria repeated, but this time, there was a slight smile on his face.

Beyblade: Finding the Leader (Hiwatari Kai x Kinomiya Takao)
- Umm. Kai x Takao is my ultimate OTP for Beyblade XD (791 words)
"Secure all the exits! Don't let any of them escape!"
Flashing red lights and the sounds of sirens filled the innocent-looking night. Hiwatari Kai, Head of Division II, strolled casually towards the main entrance of the Bey National Prison.
He regarded the young man -dressed in that irritatingly-orange prisoner's uniform- who is fiddling with car keys with an interested stare. "Pretty confident, aren't you?"
The security guards in the main entrance were all out cold; most of the police force concentrated on the ventilation vents, the sewage systems, the other escape routes.
"Not going to stop me?" Kinomiya Takao, notorious member of the Bladebreakers mafia group, asked with a cheeky grin.
"Too much trouble," Kai replied, walking away from the scene as though he didn't see anything, as though he didn't see his subordinates knocked out, as though he didn't see one of the more important prisoners stealing someone's car.
Kai paused as Takao made a sound of triumph at opening the car door. "You should get rid of that awful uniform."
"But I like orange," Takao complained, but Kai knew that the mafia's chief assassin already had a plan to not get noticed despite the telltale prisoner's clothing.
"Idiot," Kai wanted to say, but he continued to walk away instead, letting Takao escape.
*
Kai stepped out of the police headquarters, relieved that the day was finally over and he could finally stop hearing Yuriy's rants about the mafia being so sly and cunning and managing to escape their supervision.
There was a new case -a big one- assigned to him, because the higher-ups didn't want the media piling more failures to their name. Kai snorted as he thought about how stained the police's name already was.
A cab stopped in front of him as soon as he raised his hand, and Kai easily slipped on the back seat. He wasn't alone, but he was expecting it anyway.
"I haven't thanked you properly yet, have I?" A boyish voice asked him, and Kai turned his head briefly to stare at the other's features.
"You cut your hair," Kai commented after a short while, resisting the urge to tug at the other's hair.
Kinomiya Takao smiled sheepishly. "Well, they wanted me to be more careful."
"Hmm," Kai hummed noncommittally, before leaning fully on the cab's seat. He closed his eyes, feeling the day's tiredness washing over him, but that was because he trusted Takao to not get the two of them lost.
*
Five hours later found Takao wincing slightly as he tried to sit up, soft blankets falling down to show his naked body. Kai was already seated, reading the mission specs on his laptop, eyeglasses perched on his nose, and Takao resisted the urge to kiss Kai again.
Their innocent kisses always turned into not-so-innocent acts almost immediately, and they couldn't really afford to stay engaged any longer.
"The Saint Shields are becoming more powerful, huh?" Takao commented offhandedly, putting on new clothes from the nearby closet.
Kai fixed him a glance, while Takao held up his hands, "Okay, okay, I'll ask Max if we can negotiate first."
"You just want to add Saint Shields to your members," Kai said amusedly.
"Well, there's that," Takao admitted laughingly, "though didn't you know that I'm a very innocent person at heart?"
Kai let out a low chuckle, thinking that Takao being innocent was one of the biggest lie that could exist-only that, it was also the strangest truth as well.
*
The capture of the Saint Shields' members and their following detainment was a whooping success, but Kai just batted away the invitations to celebratory drinks.
Yuriy asked him to wait up, so Kai stayed on the headquarters for a while longer.
"The Chief wants us to go on a mission to capture the leader of Bladebreakers," Yuriy told him as soon as he arrived.
Kai simply nodded and told Yuriy that they'll talk about the mission specs tomorrow, so he should enjoy the party now. Yuriy's searching stare didn't leave Kai's back, until the crimson-eyed man disappeared from the other's sight.
*
"He's supposed to be the one wearing that long, flowing scarf," Yuriy said to his mission partner.
Kai made a noise of agreement, "Aah."
A gun was already fixed on Yuriy's temple.
"I knew it," Yuriy said with a note of victory for being correct in his suspicions all along.
"Aah."
*
"So what did you do with Yuriy?"
Kai didn't reply, only settling back into the pillows and allowing Takao's body to stay draped over him.
Takao smiled widely, "Ah, I always knew you were a softie at heart."
The crimson-eyed male didn't say anything else, but his sulky silence was enough to be an answer.

Prince of Tennis: Control Shift (Tezuka Kunimitsu x Fuji Syuusuke)
- First time writing any sort of Prince of Tennis fic, so I'll be writing for my OTP! ♥ (1061 words)
"I trust you'll be able to control him well, ahn?"
That was what Atobe Keigo said, before leaving their latest capture to Tezuka's hands.
Blue eyes, brown hair, and a friendly smile greet his scrutinizing stare. Well, Tezuka supposes, this person couldn't be that difficult.
*
Tezuka Kunimitsu's 'don't let your guard down' becomes his hourly mantra, along with the stock of trusty anti-migraine tablets that rests inside his drawer.
A series of knocks sounds from the door and Tezuka calls out to let the visitor enter. It is Oishi, who looks half-embarrassed and half-anxious. Tezuka could already feel a headache pooling from his temples, but he asks Oishi about the problem anyway.
Oishi sounds even more nervous than he looks. "Uh, Tezuka, Fuji is-"
"Buchou…!" Momoshiro's voice wails from behind Oishi, "Fuji-san is-"
"Buchou," Echizen appears from beneath Momoshiro's flailing arms, looking irritated and sulky the way only brats can pull off. "Fuji-senpai is-"
In the trouble-ridden six months that Fuji has been under his 'care', Tezuka learns that the blue-eyed man delights in throwing everything into disarray, but that chaos has an order that only his genius-eyes can see. Tezuka takes a deep breath before standing up, makes quick and solid steps towards his doorway, and ushers his subordinates towards their respective duties, with stern promises of smoothing things out with Fuji.
As soon as Oishi's uneasy stare, Momoshiro's loud complaints and Echizen's childish pout all left, Fuji manifests himself in the middle of the room, still with that friendly smile, but Tezuka now knows how difficult Fuji can really be.
"Fuji, you should focus on your training," Tezuka says instead, even though he knows that Fuji isn't the type to neglect training -though he also isn't the type to seek out more work- and even though he knows that Fuji is one of the people who need training the least.
The young man simply smiles indulgently at him, before settling on his plush leather seat. "Aah, your seat is very comfortable, Tezuka."
"It is," Tezuka agrees, because Atobe doesn't allow less-than-exquisite furniture in his building and because, according to Inui's impeccable statistics, everything is 74.2% less frustrating if one agrees with Fuji.
Fuji's smile widens ever-so-subtly, and Tezuka sees a flash of cerulean eyes. Tezuka breathes deeply again, remembering Atobe's careful words of not letting Fuji become too displeased, of not letting Fuji leave their organization. "Come join me, Tezuka?"
It isn't a suggestion, so Tezuka locks the door carefully, and makes his way to squeeze in his now-uncomfortable chair.
Tezuka wonders, not for the first time, who is really the one being controlled.
*
They sometimes spar, because that's the only type of training where Fuji will actually put an effort.
Tezuka always wins, but he can feel that Fuji is simply letting him, and Tezuka is merely playing along to Fuji's playful whims. Atobe doesn't tell him why he was chosen to 'take care' of the enigmatic young man. Fuji doesn't tell him why he allowed himself to be captured by Atobe's men. Tezuka doesn't ask because things are already frail enough the way they were-asking would only dissolve those thin strands of understanding and camaraderie.
After they spar, Fuji will always sidle up close to him, touch his cheek, lean against his back, kiss his fingers, snuggle against his chest, and then he will smile brightly and comment about taking a bath because he feels filthy and that Tezuka is very welcome to join him.
Tezuka never pulls away, but never touches Fuji back, never comments about how Fuji doesn't even sweat that much, never takes up the offer of joining Fuji in the bath.
*
"I'll be sending the two of you to intercept Yukimura's plan to add Fudoumine to his allies."
"Understood."
"You will back Fuji up. Make sure he returns with you."
*
It's a miscalculation, seeing Tachibana Kippei here, but Fuji looks delighted, smile tilted up in a happy arc, eyes crinkled in amusement nevertheless.
"I'll handle this," Fuji says with a pleasant tone, and Tezuka finds it disconcerting to see such a pleasing look on someone whose two hands are occupied with twin guns.
"Don't let your guard down," Tezuka says instead, readying his own gun.
Fuji's only answer is a cheerful wave.
*
"Congratulations on a well-done mission," Atobe says with that arrogant tone, as though Tezuka should feel extremely honored from hearing those words from Atobe's lips.
Tezuka accepts the acknowledgement with nothing more than a curt nod.
In response, Atobe smirks knowingly, patronizingly. "So, how did you find Fuji's abilities?"
Frightening, Tezuka wants to say, like a demon; but, "He will be a great asset to this organization," is what Division Captain Tezuka Kunimitsu says instead.
*
On the day Tezuka allows himself to return Fuji's feverish kisses, Fuji's feather-light touches, Fuji's frantic rhythm, Tezuka allows himself to ask the things he has kept hidden all along.
On the day Fuji allows Tezuka to kiss him back and touch him in return, Fuji doesn't answer any of Tezuka's questions.
Instead, Fuji lets Tezuka's hands trail towards the eerie tattoo on his chest, a mark for a place where there's supposed to be a heartbeat that Fuji doesn't possess. Instead, Fuji lets Tezuka's teeth mark him and watch those same deep marks disappear within seconds, as Fuji's demon body resists any mark other than the cursed tattoo.
Fuji doesn't answer any question, but his actions are more than enough to answer all of Tezuka's unspoken thoughts.
*
"Our enemy is the called the 'Child of God'," Tezuka tells his partner briefly, sounding mechanical yet worried at the same time.
Expectedly, Fuji smiles, excitement brimming in his form. "You don't trust me, Boss?"
"Don't let your guard down," Tezuka states, a trademark line by now, and Fuji waves at him as usual, eyes open and gloves on, a sure sign of Fuji's rare seriousness.
"Of course not," Fuji makes it sound like the idea of being careless is absurd, "The Demon itself won't lose."
Fuji's disappears from Tezuka's sight as Fuji steps inside Yukimura's headquarters, and Tezuka settles for monitoring the vicinity and the timing of the bombs they implanted the day before.
It's just like as Fuji said-he won't lose… especially not if Tezuka promised to take him out for a week-long vacation after this.

Code Geass: The Royal Command (Suzaku Kururugi x Lelouch Lamperouge)
- Suzaku is the Prince, while Lelouch is a prisoner 8D Very interesting, yes/yes? XD I might make a sequel for this one =D
(1171 words)
"Your Highness," One of the royal advisors says with a sickly-sweet smile, "You don't have to insist on these nasty brats…"
Ten-year-old Suzaku Kururugi, High Prince of the Empire of Japan, shakes his head, chocolate-colored bangs falling into his eyes.
He was on his way to his private tutoring for horseback riding when he saw a glimpse of muddy children being led towards the dungeons. A flash of violet caught his curious eyes and he asked the soldiers to stop their march. The royal advisor assigned to him for the moment, Ougi Kaname, tried to dissuade him from letting go the purple-eyed prisoner.
Suzaku doesn't know why he wants the purple-eyed kid to be his friend. There is something in those eyes, a flash of defiance, of power, even though his hands are chained and his feet are raw from walking without any shoes.
"What's your name?" Suzaku asks, moving closer but not too much, because the other children are glaring at him and at the purple-eyed kid, jealous of his immaculate robes, of the other kid's imminent freedom. Suzaku keeps his best smile on though, because that's one of the things that will capture a friend's heart, Euphie told him before.
Purple-eyed kid sniffs disdainfully, turning his head away. Suzaku's face falls, looking dismayed, and one of the royal guards makes a move to hit the insolent child. Suzaku's yell of order hastily stops the guard from hitting the other.
"I want him to be my friend," Suzaku insists to Ougi, who sighs deeply, knowing that he can't really go against a direct order from the High Prince.
"Yes, Your Highness," Ougi says with that false-looking smile again, and nods at the royal guard. The purple-eyed kid is then promptly escorted towards the baths, where he will be made presentable by the maids before he can be sent to the Prince's study.
Suzaku smiles at his new friend, with those startling amethyst eyes, but the other simply glares hotly at him, and doesn't smile back.
*
Purple-eyed-kid turns out to be Lelouch Lamperouge, and Suzaku gladly calls him Lelouch with that brilliant smile. Lelouch looks at him, nonplussed, before turning his head away.
Suzaku notices that Lelouch likes to do that: the intense glaring, the disdainful sniffing, the arrogant head-turning. Lelouch was so unlike the other children he was with, sticking out from the bundles of despair and dirt and streaks of war. Lelouch came from Britannia, a neighboring country that the Japanese Empire has annexed.
Those were the only things that Suzaku found out about his new friend, even after spending five hours with the other.
Suzaku's smile doesn't falter though, and he resolves to learn even more about Lelouch Lamperouge before the day is over.
*
Seven years later finds Suzaku and Lelouch inside the Prince's study, with Lelouch's nose buried in a thick history book, while Suzaku tugs at his friend's sleeves, trying to convince Lelouch to stop reading the assignments given to them by Earl Lloyd, and they should not waste such a sunny day inside the castle.
Lelouch casts a warning glare, but Suzaku is pretty stubborn when he wants to. He is the Prince, but Lelouch is taking the lessons more seriously than him. Lloyd always teases Suzaku about it-that if he didn't know any better, Lelouch is the prince while Suzaku is the-slaveprisonerfriend.
Suzaku always answers to that with dismissive laughter and placating hand-motions. Suzaku doesn't like hearing those things, not because he doesn't want to see Lelouch as a royalty-material, but because the others always regard the purple-eyed teenager with obnoxious superiority and disgust.
"Let's go outside-" Suzaku continues to wheedle, while Lelouch steadfastly ignores him. "We can go play chess afterwards," Suzaku offers, even though he hates the game, but he knows that it's Lelouch's favorite hobby.
Lelouch sighs, but there's a small smile tugging at his lips, "It can't be helped."
The prince pouts at Lelouch's long-suffering tone, but he pulls at the other's sleeves more enthusiastically, and leads his friend outside.
*
Nineteen-year-old Suzaku Kururugi runs frantically along the hallways, the sound of his frantic footsteps overpowered by the anguished screams, by the clashing of swords, by the boom of rifles. "Lelouch! Where are you!" His yells are being masked as well, melting into the cacophony of battle sounds, as Britannia doesn't relent in its relentless attack.
While Suzaku was being escorted outside the castle, he got separated from Lelouch, and now, Suzaku ran back to his home to find his friend. He ignores the orders for him to stop and think of his own safety, but he can't do that, because Lelouch is his most important person, his first friend, and he wouldn't go to some other place without him.
Suzaku arrives at his own private chambers, and he sees Lelouch there. Instead of looking anxious or injured, however, Lelouch looks calm-no, smug.
"Lelouch…?" Suzaku ventures, wincing internally when he recognizes how soft his voice is compared to the raging sounds of war outside.
A green-haired woman appears sits up from Suzaku's bed, looking bored and disinterested, "This is the boy…?"
"Aah," Lelouch agrees, and he looks like the glimpses Suzaku catches across the years, with that sharp glint in his eyes, that mean curl of his lips, that cruel edge in his voice. "This is the Prince of Japan."
"The new Emperor, you mean?"
Suzaku clenches his fists, because his father's death is still fresh, and the guilt is still devouring him slowly, painfully. The thought of being an Emperor at this time is buried underneath the thoughts of 'let's escape now, Lelouch' and 'I want to stop this war'.
"Why don't you do it now?" The woman asks curiously, casually tossing a gun to Lelouch's lap. "You said you'll take destroy Japan, ah?"
"…D-destroy… Japan…?" Suzaku whispers the question, blood rushing to his head and making him feel dizzy. He doesn't understand what they are talking about, and who is this woman anyway?
Suzaku's eyes fall to the Crest of Britannia present on the clothes Lelouch is wearing. That's right… Lelouch is from Britannia. But he has lived in the castle for a long time…!
"Are you abandoning me now? Are you abandoning your friend now?!" Suzaku asks wildly, his feet taking him to where Lelouch is. The gun is still innocently lying on Lelouch's lap.
Lelouch shifts his gaze to stare intently into Suzaku's eyes. "Not destroy," He says offhandedly to the youthful woman, and Lelouch places his hand over his left eye, and-
"Lelouch vi Britannia orders you-"
Lelouch vi Britannia? Britannia's prince?
And Suzaku finally realizes the reasons for Lelouch's aristocratic grace, his noteworthy intelligence, his impeccable etiquette-everything.
"To follow all of my commands…!"
Suzaku sees Lelouch's triumphantly smirking face, and he wants to say, 'I'll help you, Lelouch', or 'I killed my father so that this war would stop', but the Geass doesn't allow him to say anything else, except for one thing.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
