Catch A (Shooting) Star

Apr 04, 2010 01:03

The past three years had been a blur for Kibum. Ever since SHINee had been disbanded, he had moved to the US and worked as a dance instructor. He never heard from the other members, but he didn’t mind. (But) Jinki, oh god Jinki. Kibum had said his goodbyes to Jinki with no regrets, but the memories of them lingered within the darkness of Kibum’s mind. Kibum was a broken man, and the ghost of Jinki filled up the holes with his quiet, gentle love.

Kibum found himself returning to Seoul one day.

He returned to the same park bench where he and Jinki had spent countless nights together, with only the stars for company. Kibum stopped, seeing someone already huddled on the bench. The person turned to face him, and a smile broke out on his face. Jinki, Kibum whispered. It was happening all over again, and Kibum was falling (in love) all over again.

It was like reliving their love, Kibum thought. Jinki and Kibum spent the days doing everything they used to do when they were teenagers, when they were so in love. It was the same old whirlwind romance, and looking into Jinki’s eyes still took all the breath out of Kibum. It was like nothing had changed.

(It was like SHINee still shined.)

If they closed their eyes and concentrated hard enough, they could still hear the bickering of the other three members while they sat out on the balcony. They spend Kibum’s last night in Seoul on the balcony of their old dorm. Jinki chokes a little on emotion, and he chuckles.

You said we’d never meet again.

Kibum smiled, I was wrong.

There was silence for a moment.

I’m glad I was wrong, Kibum whispered.

He felt Jinki grab his hand and their fingers are tangled together once more. Kibum smiled.

Me too.

Kibum’s heart was captured by Jinki. It always had been that way, and Kibum hoped that it always will. Kibum felt a small sense of selfishness grow within him, and he wanted nothing more than to make Jinki his, and his only.

We don’t need SHINee, he said, we don’t need anyone.

Jinki gave Kibum a sad smile, and Kibum could almost hear his heart breaking. Yet, he smiled, and never did he let go of Jinki’s hand.

You’re getting married, aren’t you?

Jinki nodded.

Kibum laughed a little, but his eyes were dark. It’s always like this, isn’t it?

Kibum, Jinki started, you know I love you.

Then leave her, Kibum said, a little too harshly than intended, tears threatening to spill.

(I won’t cry; I won’t cry.)

You know I can’t, Jinki’s tone is slightly angry, and Kibum wanted to run away. We’ve had our chance to love, Jinki’s voice softened, and we have to move on.

What if I don’t want to move on, Kibum semi-shrieked, almost on the brink of losing it, what if I’d rather die than move on?

One sentence; four words, and Kibum knew Jinki loved him as well.

(I’d die with you.)

And then, they flew.

(over the edge;)

It started with Jinki;

And it ended with Jinki.

(The last thing Kibum saw was Jinki’s smile.)
