No matter what happens
Even when the sky is falling down
Gwiboon remembers; she remembers every little detail and stores them away in her heart, just in case one day they’re gone, she’d still have something to remember. (Because Gwiboon knows she’d forget.) She remembers the way his hands grasp hers, his long pianist fingers wrapping around her own. She remembers her dreams of him; where they are free to do whatever they want without the fear of being judged.
Because, falling in love with your brother isn’t a good thing… right?
It is those nights when they’re cuddled in her four-poster bed that she allows herself to forget who they are, forget that they are bound by invisible chains. It’s too late to look back, she tells herself. And when his lips catch hers, she is pretty sure she doesn’t regret anything. Jinki, she whispers into his lips. Their nights start to turn silent, and Gwiboon knows they’re both thinking, dreaming, fantasizing of a world where what they’re doing is not wrong. But they know, it’s wrong, it’s tainted. Gwiboon smiles anyway. (You and I together, it just feels so right.)
Their parents find out. It’s a hushed affair, much quieter than what Gwiboon had anticipated. We can’t have our children committing incest, their mother speaks in a harsh whisper, what would our neighbours think? Gwiboon sees something flash in Jinki’s eyes for a moment; something akin to anger, but he says nothing and the emotion is gone as sudden as it came. And then Jinki’s eyes are empty. It scares Gwiboon a little down and her world comes crashing down. She grasps desperately at the memories she has kept inside her heart as they turn to ashes in her hands and fly away.
They’re gone, Gwiboon says after their parents leave.
We’re gone too, Jinki replies.
No we’re not; Jinki, don’t give up, not yet, Gwiboon is hysterical, and yet her voice is barely above a whisper, you promised me.
I’m leaving, Gwiboon, Jinki sighs in defeat, I got a scholarship.
You can’t go! Gwiboon almost screams, ignoring the soft voice in her head, telling her that she was being selfish.
She falls silent when Jinki’s arms are around her, and their lips entangled in a sweet kiss.
Sometimes, you have to be away from the ones you love, but that doesn’t make you love them any less. Sometimes, Jinki pauses and his lips are on Gwiboon’s once more;
It makes you love them more.
Gwiboon traces his jaw line with her finger. Promise me, that you won’t regret what we had, she says, and then I’ll let you go.
Jinki’s scent is all that fills Gwiboon in that moment as he crushes her into an embrace. She finds herself wishing that she could stop time.
I’ll never regret it, Jinki whispers fiercely, before adding softly, I’m sorry I couldn’t take care of you.
Gwiboon knows it’s all over, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less.
I’ll promise you
That I’ll never let you go
A/N: I know the song lyrics kind of stand out, especially since this is in third-party, but i love the song^^ mostly inspired by Park Bom's YOU AND I (trust me, i've been whining about wanting to write incest for quite some time now.) and loosely inspired by
this. NO, I am not in love with my cousin. pfffft. I just like the colours in the photo, ain't it pretty? (: (oh, and the quote jinki said, was from the last song. yeah, the movie with miley cyrus in it.)
