If you asked me if I loved him, I’d lie.
It began, as always, with rainy day. The weather was depressing and did nothing to lift a certain Lee Jinki’s mood. He was the kind of person who’d be cheerful every second of everyday, but on that fateful rainy day, his spirits were rather down in the dump. Worst of all, he didn’t even know why he was feeling depressed. Maybe it’s the stress, his worried members tell him. They had a point, seeing that their comeback was less than a week away. But somehow Jinki felt that that wasn’t it. And so the members were forced to make their way (just a tad awkwardly) around Jinki who sat stubbornly in the middle of their hallway.
Taemin tried to cheer Jinki up just like Jinki had done for him so many times before. He tried to act cute and get the oldest boy to smile, but that didn’t work. All the following attempts did nothing more than make Jinki sneeze (Taemin had a sachet of pepper in his pocket). He even tried throwing a tantrum, but that only made Kibum mad at him. Admitting defeat, Taemin wandered off to find Minho. (“Hey, where’s Minho?”)
Every time Kibum navigated his way past Jinki, he would give a small huff and kick Jinki in the back violently, just to show his dissatisfaction with having to avoid the boy on the floor. After half an hour filled with several kicks, Kibum tried to bribe Jinki with chicken, but even that didn’t work. Sighing in frustration, Kibum sat himself down in front of his pain-in-the-ass leader.
“Listen,” he started, “I don’t know why I’m doing this, but I am, and I want you to listen well.”
Jinki snorted a little in response. (Taking Kibum a little by surprise - sometimes he forgot that Jinki was just a little ruder than Onew.)
After Kibum recovered from the mild shock, he started talking. He talked about anything and everything. He told Jinki everything he could think of, down to the very last detail. By the time he was done, Kibum was quite out of breath and both boys (who were seated on the floor) had grins on their faces. Kibum hadn’t said anything particularly interesting, but Jinki observed the way his expressions changed with each topic he covered, and somehow, it calmed him. Coughing a little to hide the bright red on his cheeks, Kibum stood up.
“Since you’re okay now, get off the floor,” he snapped before walking away.
Jinki chuckled a little, making no move to leave his spot on the floor.
“You like him, don’t you, hyung?”
Turning around, Jinki saw Jonghyun smiling impishly at him offering a hand. Rolling his eyes at him, Jinki took his hand and got up on his feet.
“What are you talking about? I don’t.”
But Jinki’s smile told them both it was a lie.
(“Oh, there you are Minho.”)
